Random LSU note for the day. Happy Friday.

quote:

In "Logan Lucky," Tatum is the lead brother, portraying a former LSU quarterback whose NFL dreams were upended years earlier by a knee injury.

They probably chose LSU because it took the pressure off Tatum having to look competent throwing a forward pass.

Saw it last night. They mentioned LSU early in the film but I didn't make the connection that Tatums character actually played for LSU. The scene was an old lady talking about her husband loving LSU because of the colors. Guess I missed the connection to that and his football playing career

ETA great movie BTW.

They chose LSU because the director's dad taught there and grew up in Baton Rouge. Duh!

Yep. His first movie that won the Palme d'Or at Cannes was filmed in Baton Rouge. I was in Prof Soderbergh's class when he won so, yeah, he mentioned it once or twice.

Professor Soderberg was one of the best teachers I had at LSU and because of his class I chose to be a teacher and i am still teaching HS 31 years later.

I liked sex lies and videotape but I've always thought that the film would be artistically enhanced if it featured more female nudity and more graphic sex scenes.

Please mention this to the professor next time you see him. Thanks.

CSB- I remember watching my older brother play little league baseball against soderburg. He was actually a pretty good pitcher. I actually have a Soderburgh box score from The State Times in my sports memorabilia box in the attic. I also remember seeing him at the LSU union when they had pinball machines, pol tables and sold beer to 13 year olds .

LSU is mentioned, but not in context with Tatum's character.

When they show a photo of him in football gear, it's not LSU (possibly his high school photo). They never mention his playing college, only that he was a high school hero destined for the NFL (at one time).

Yeah, he is a big Bama fan. My best friend was in a movie with him called "Side Effects." I went to visit her when they were making the film and spent some time talking to him about college football one day. I wouldn't say he's all that well-versed on the game in general, just a Bama fan.

My friend's character in the movie kills him, so maybe it's poetic justice.

So everyone's saying that playing Neck makes our school look like trash? Hmm. I'm gonna stop right here because I don't wanna get banned
