As many already believed, it's a 4-horse race according to CFN (Bama, LSU, Oregon, USC):

LINK

quote:

Alabama, LSU, USC and Oregon are really, really, really good.
That might not exactly be the shock of shocks, but considering some BCS championship contenders struggled in their openers -- more on that in a moment -- the biggest stars on the top of the polls might have created a little bit of separation. Depending on which ranking system you choose to pray to, Alabama, USC and LSU are in the top three in some way, shape or form, and all three were fantastic.

quote:

Meanwhile, LSU went through the motions and ran at will on North Texas in a mail-it-in 41-14 victory. New starting quarterback Zach Mettenberger got knocked out for a stretch and wasn’t sharp when he returned, but overall he showed a great arm and looked like he’s going add another dimension to the attack. The Tigers got bombed on for one 80-yard touchdown pass, but allowed just 139 yards the rest of the day.

Great perspective.

This is probably the best article I have read so far. All the Negatigers act like LSU was playing a tough SEC opponent. They Mailed it in. Hopefully Les lights a fire under them and they show out a bit more against Washington. Well, here is to wishing

You really do lose just about all objectivity good or bad when you spend too much time on this site. It is like people outside the program watched a completely different game than the LSU fans here.

Tigers looked pretty good. Running game was great but OF line looked awful. We hope Lsu's OF line & backs learn to pass block or we may be in for a different season than we expected.

We'll know a lot more about this LSU team after Washington and Auburn. Especially Auburn as it will be Zach's first SEC road game.

The main things I took from the North Texas game:

-our running game is going to be great, as usual
-OBJ is a capable replacement for TM7 on returns
-Landry will have a breakout year
-it appears, as expected, we finally have a decent passing game.

As long as Chavis is DC, I won't ever question the defense. I know the defense is going to be solid and Top5.

That sounds about right to me. Not convinced that Arky, Oklahoma, FSU or anybody else is on the top tier with Bama, LSU USCw and Oregon.

IMO its 1. Alabama 2. LSU 3. USC 4. Oregon. Alabama/LSU better than USC/Oregon but their SEC schedules present more land mines along the way. PAC 12 schedule and Oregon at home favors USC, but being in separate division from Oregon means they will probably have to beat the Ducks twice.

November 3rd - double Armageddon.

I thought Zack's numbers were better in the 2nd half?

No one is doubting that the running game is awesome and so is the defense, we just want to see more out of the downfield passing game. Maybe against UWs shotty defense, we will.
