Maybe LSU fans are too critical and a third party can view it without too much bias/emotion?
The ranking takes into account the poor performance of the Offense but gives credit to the Defense/Sec game/First road game etc....

They are able to view the forest and not just the trees?
Excerpt -
quote:

Why The Ranking Should Be Higher: There’s no such thing as a “bad” win when you outscore rival Auburn at night in front of a jacked up crowd. The LSU D is once again air-tight, holding the Tigers to just nine first downs to remain in the top 10 nationally in just about every statistical category.
Why The Ranking Should Be Lower: Zach Mettenberger just might not be the answer after at all at quarterback for the Tigers. He had a rough time against an average Auburn defense, raising concerns that LSU might be the same one-dimensional offense in key games that it was a year ago.

Our defense is absolutely insane, anyone worried is overreacting so hard.

So do I. The kid played well other than the fumbles. Do people not understand that it's hard to have big numbers when you're under constant pressure and have drops on deep balls? Go ask Matt Barkley and Landry Jones how easy it is to put up numbers when under constant pressure. Both didn't fare too well in the last 2 weeks and no one questions their ability to be the answer.

No big deal imo. Even if they put FSU above us and we dropped to #4 I wouldnt be mad. Its understandable after a shaky outing, and it will all sort itself out.

yep. if lsu continues to win, the rankings will play out in their favor. there's a bunch of top-10 matchups on the horizon for them. they'll be the ones leapfrogging people in the rankings if they continue to win, even if it is ugly

It's how the column works. They make a negative about every team. I guess they could have gone with the OL being thin and overrated though.

The way we played Sat. I don't think we should be ranked in the top 10. I am glad we are but we had better get it together before we play in the swamp! I certainly hope Sat. woke the tigers up if not we will have a sorry year with all our talent.

There was another article by CFN I believe that basically said the same thing.

This is redux, same old story, same old Les...LSU/Bama will be a repeat of the National Title Game and not the earlier regular season matchup. Stubborn stays as stubborn does. Defense is great, offense - no growth, no change, no creativity...high schoolish and easy to defend as usual with a great D-line. Les has not matured past just out-muscling people at the line. Works great when you are playing U-dub, not so great when you are playing Bama.

Not that I am a fan of what happened on 1/9 but are folks forgetting that LSU won the first time!

It is not as though Miles doesn't know how to win against Saban and Bama. He has done it multiple times.

The most recent loss is always on one's mind and unfortunately it was the title game. It was made worse in that it was against Bama (division) and Saban. There were already splits with JJ and JL and all of these factors makes it seem even worse emotionally.

Regardless of whether you have smart alec comments about Les' coaching/ buddy coaches/game plan/time management -

THE MAN HAS WON BEFORE AND WILL WIN AGAIN!!!!

I don't care about rankings but at least they have Georgia second and not Oregon. Georgia has had some solid wins this year.

Oregon beat a (ranked?)conference team in a shutout - It would not be amiss if they were ranked ahead too!

I'm sorry but scout has less legitimacy than ESPN

UGA might crash the party. Greatly improved offensively, now have two freshman RBs who can pound the rock, have played well the last three games, will have full complement of defensive starters for the first time this season vs UT, and have the most favorable schedule.

I'm still confused how people can think the LSU OL can flip a switch and develop into a great pass blocking unit. If they were good at it some evidence of such would have been displayed on the field by now.

Don't bring that Arizona was a ranked team into this discussion. 4-8 last year!

UGA and carolina look more than a little legit now.

that 3 game stretch with UF-USC-A&M might be the toughest that I've ever seen for LSU.
