Collins' mother won the LA lotto not once, but twice.

You think she could have sent him to some therapy/evaluation even at that late stage.

should be castrated

castration wouldn't solve the problem...it's the urges that are the problem...i think castration would only make things worse b/c these people would still have these sexual urges yet no way to act out on it...

I feel really bad for the guy. He is very sick in the head. And of course jail doesn't rehab him which is why a large percentage of prisoners go right back after they get out. Sad cycle.

Rehabilitate is such a misleading term, it implies those in prison had a functional life or good mental health before they were locked up and they can be restored to the condition before they went wrong. There is no cycle. They are fricked up before prison, in prison and after prison.

What exactly is society suppose to do for felons to make them fit in?

What a waste. Guy was an ABSOLUTE BEAST in HS. Speed, vision, and power.

i agree, i played against him in high school and he was unreal. i remember going to tackle him him and it was like running in to a tree. he was unbelievably strong and he gained 300+ yards on our defense that haven't giving up 100 yard rusher all season.

he had all the talent in the world, but i guess crawling threw windows was better

How cool would the wishbone have looked with Faulk, Collins, Mealey, and Herb Tyler?

My dad is a friend of Tommy Casanova's. When Cecil first came to LSU, he told my dad that he was the best RB he had ever seen in an LSU uniform. I'm guessing he's seen a few.

This fricked up a-hole will spend most of the rest of his life in jail. He will get out one, maybe two more times and then he will be back in. He has a serious personality disorder that is really not that treatable. At some point he will ultimately be judged a lifetime offender and he will be off of the streets for good. Then again, maybe someone will take care of him while he is on the street and save the taxpayer a lot of money. This guy will never make it in society.

The interview was pretty sad if you ask me. I think it is sad that someone has that much talent and can't get it together. It shows that he is truly mentally ill because no sane person would make the decisions he has made in his lifetime. I really don't think you can treat sexual deviants. Very Sad!!!

All I can say is ...wow! I will never forget the Auburn game in 1997. That was the most amazing performance by an LSU running back that I have ever witnessed.. I really think he could have run for 300+ yards. I feel very sorry for him. He committed the crime, so he must do the time, but what a gifted athlete.

First, Collins was better than Faulk. I was at that Auburn game when he was simply unstoppable and Dinardo still found a way to lose. I was never thought that Faulk was a hard runner and rarely broke tackles. Second, Collins is a pathetic creature in the true sense of the word. He literally cannot help himself. He probably should be incarcerated for the rest of his life. He will never change and his present predicament was inevitable so there is no sense in lamenting what was lost or wasted. Collins never had a chance. But jesus for about four games in 1997 he was the best thing I ever saw.

i have a hard time understanding why a person cannot see that they have a problem yet does nothing to help himself get the proper help necessary to help him function in life.

Maybe he feels life in the pen is easier than normal life and having to make decisions for himself? With a person like him and his past, I don't think that's an outrageous suggestion.

I would find it hard to believe he didn't know he was screwing up before he did what he did.
