chris johnson would have to play the defensive game of his life against hansbrough and still get some double team help AND we'd have to shoot 50% plus, AND garrett would have to shut down ty lawson like he did JJ Redick ..

Has it occurred to anybody that we play in Greensboro, NC. East coast. Hence the first game of the tournament.

CBS wants to maximize ratings! Views LSU/Butler as best chance to do so in the 1st round.

This has nothing to do with it. Call it "rantard" or "CBS Hates LSU" or whatever, but these are facts:

1. Duke always plays in Primetime on Thursday
2. Duke always plays the first game on Saturday morning, which is the only game that is broadcast to the entire nation (just watch)
3. Duke is in the other half of the region that LSU is in, so the LSU and UNC games were dumped to the early half of the bracket.
4. CBS is not going to make UNC play at 11, because they don't want to make their fans show up early, and UNC is a bigger "brand" than LSU.
5. Therefore, CBS sticks LSU with the spot that nobody wants, and they try to spin it as "we wanted a good game to open the tournament" to cloud logic.

Anybody who understands television and knows how CBS picks the gametimes in each region knows this is true.

I guarantee you that even though that one time they were in a Friday bracket:

1. that first game was on in Primetime
2. that second game was broadcast to the entire country

I challenge you to find the last time Duke didn't play in primetime for the first game and didn't have the second game broadcast to the entire country.

Look at how the bracket times worked out. All the SEC teams got the ghetto time slots (including that Thursday afternoon West Coast game that nobody will get). Meanwhile, the Dukes, USCs, Texases, and Big Ten teams of the world all conveniently play in primetime. It's not an accident or "chance" that the Texas A&M/BYU game is on in a shite time slot while USC/Boston College and Wisconsin/Florida State got primetime.

If CBS wanted "a great game" to open the tournament, why didn't they pick Texas/Minnesota from that regional? That's a competitive game between two big-name teams with decent fan bases? I'll tell you why. Because if they did, then that would have meant that Duke would have had to play in the middle of the afternoon. And we just can't have that now, can we?
