I'm well aware of that. I'm just telling you she came up with it when they trademarked the clothing line.

Honestly who cares what you people think the rant is driving me nuts.

Now, that makes more sense, but another poster said that is his mom's saying...

Actually, all you said was "Bro that's his moms saying." How am I supposed to interpret that to mean his mom made it up when they trademarked it?

Or maybe he has a life and doesn't spend every waking moment on an anonymous internet message board talking about something related to a kid in high school and didn't know that there were 100 other threads on the topic

This reasoning makes me want to hurt myself. Go to the search function and type in what you want to find, you sound like a bunch of babies who need help wiping your own arse.

Please explain to me what being on a message board more than somebody else, has to do with using the damn search bar? It is how I find most info so I don't have to post stupid threads over and over again asking the same stuff. I just which the admins would patrol this board more and cut down on it.

And in the time it took you to type this out you could have explained it. Instead you insisted on being a prick.

In the time he took to write the post, he could have found his answer in the search bar. Stop making people be even more lazy than they already are.

That is fine, but what does it mean? You can't tell me he and his friends simply pulled it out of thin air! Buga? It sounds dumb. I will not be saying it.

Ok, you want the story, here's the story:
When he was a kid, his grandma called him a cute little booger, so his family started calling him booger. When he got older, his friends thought the family was calling him booga, and it morphed into Buga when people started shouting it in the stands when he would score a touchdown. So then his family and friends started Buga Nation because it was catchy and could be trademarked easily. And that is how Buga Nation was created. If you aren't down with it, you are suspect.
Deal with it.

Alright, thanks for the response. I can work with that.

In general, almost all of my posts on the Rant are links or quotes from links. I'm the least likely guy to start a thread asking what channel the game is on instead of googling it. The backstory on this nickname wasn't easily searchable (or widely known, IMO).

I kind of want to be considered suspect, but as an LSU fan, I'm automatically a part of buga nation, which is cool too, I guess.

It's an innovative way for a player to get paid without breaking any NCAA violations.

The player and his family develop some form of a trademarkable t-shirt, IN THIS CASE WITH A REAL AND PRE_EXISTING MEANING TO THE FAMILY/PLAYER. The player pimps the apparel that his family/friends/self developed outside the scope of football and recruiting. The fan base buys the merchandise in support of the player joining their favorite team, and wahlah, the family and player makes money off of the University-affiliation without any violations. It is a backdoor payment method.

Any great player can do something similar at this point and have the fan base of the prospective teams funnel money to the family/player/friends, and as of now, it is fully legit/legal.....

Or, maybe it is just a fun activity his whole family uses for special meaning and family bonding... :-)
