Go to lsusports.net
Look at roster
If player was Fr. In 2004, then saban recruit. Miles recruit if 2005 class and beyond

I did the numbers back then, the production on both sides of the ball was roughly 50/50 between Saban and Miles recruits.

Why was this ever a discussion?

No one doubts Les's recruiting chops. What is called into question, however, is his ability to develop talent.
Given the small timeframe the starters from '07 would have actually spent being coached by Saban or his assistants, the influence that they would have had on those players is tenuous at best.

Thus, although they were "Saban's recruits," they were without a doubt "Les's players."

Nobody ever wants to admit this. That 2007 team was all Miles. They were developed by him and played the brand of football he wants to play.

False.

In fact, the very first QB Miles recruited at LSU was quite effective in the SEC, and had he not been a fricking head case would have had LSU in a position for titles in 2008 and 2009. Had it not been for that particular QB, LSU would have likely never gotten past TENN in the SECCG in 2007 in order to fall arse backwards into the NCG moving from #7 to #2 after Championship Weekend.

I'll grant that his track record has been poor, and the biggest weakness his entire tenure has been QB development, but you don't need to go overboard and say he brought in no one who could play in the SEC to make your point.

Perriloux's problem wasn't talent...and Les reeled him in.

2005 class only had about 14 recruits, 11 of which committed to Saban, but all signed with Les. The 2004 class were obviously signed by Saban and did contribute to 2007, but were coached by him and his staff for 1 year. They were true seniors or red shirt juniors in 2007. It was clearly Mile's team. In fact like always the complaints at the time on the rant were that Mile's played to many of these guys at the expense of the younger more talented players that he recruited and signed. Some things never change on here. And why anyone would like to rehash this is beyond me. I can barely remember the 1969 team but it was very good. However it has nothing to do with 2015 and neither does 2007.

Wrong. The majority of players who started the 2008 BCSNG were NOT Saban recruits. 11 were Miles recruits and 11 were Sabans - all of whom sat on the bench for Saban and didn't play much...
