I don't know if it's true or if they would even do it but let's say Sankey tells LSU to play the game and cancel South Alabama and we don't. My Alabama friend said they can take away our bowl game, can they even do that or does LSU hold the cards here?

The commissoner said recently in an interview, when pushed (he didn't want to say it) ultimately he has the power. If he orders something, yes any school that resists his orders can (and likely would) be punished.

The most obvious "punishment" in this case is that when he comes up with the make up plan, if either LSU or UF say no, they forfeit the game to the other.

I dare him to punish us. If SEC pays for the contract cancellations, maybe it'll work. But we should not be footing the bill for the SEC and UF frick ups

Home games are huge for Baton Rouge economy.

They can't pay us for those losses.

He should be wary of the savage meme-ing he would receive.

Exactly, there is no way they can compensate BR for the loss of a game. Nov 19 is a nonstarter and Aleva should say don't even bring it up unless FL agrees to play in BR and also pays South Alabama.

LSU to the weed eater bowl!!! The SEC does have a say in bowl games.

My point is if the SEC wants us to play the game. We have no real choice.

Let them do their worst. At this point I don't give a shite. As long as they don't get what THEY want. I've had it with the SEC!

And when they have a choice, they always send us to a lower bowl than other teams with the same record.

The Big 12 + LSU and another team would be a legit conference. Just saying....

He can, but he won't, because he'd rightfully lose his job.

LSU did nothing wrong. There's nothing wrong with not letting Florida and the SEC run us over for their own screw ups. LSU should not, and will not, lose a dime.

"Sankey:

We will cancel our scheduled home game Nov 19 and schedule an away game at UF upon receipt of a $20 million cashier's check, payable to LSU athletics, from the SEC.

Sincerely,
Joe A."

I would add in one more demand on top of the $20mil... SEC pays for LSU full band to Gainesville.

why the hell would we do something like that?...if they figure out a way that we can play UF, then we should do it...after all, that is exactly what we have been whining about for damn near a week, right?

Alleva needs to repeatedly play that up to the media about our flood ravaged city taking the financial hit for a failure by UForfeit and Sankey.

They made the mistake, they pay for it. How in the world could anyone say LSU is responsible for this game not getting played this weekend?

If this were a court case, LSU wouldn't be the one that would have to pay fines and restitution. And this is exactly how the situation should be treated.

LSU, the city of Baton Rouge and the State of Louisiana doesn't owe Florida one damn penny in this case! They ruined their shot at being the recipient of our goodwill when they refused to relocate the game, so we're in the clear.

If Sankey wants to try to punish us, he's welcome to try. But, I happen to know that LSU has some mighty fine lawyers that would love to get involved.

Oh, and as for the Dennis Dodd bleeding hearts out there......you can kiss our arse! Unless you are gonna pony up the money to the people of this town who need it desperately, then you can shut your mouth and quit judging them for worrying about their livliehood. This is about more than a damn football game!
