Can Louis play the MLB position if Beckwith goes down?

He certainly looks big enough. I'm hoping he can slide in there if something goes down. Need to keep the middle of the defense strong.

Play it? Yes

Play it well? Well, there'a reason he was moved away from it

Feist really absolutely has to step up here, because he'll be starting MLB the next year anyways.

We are 2 deep at all LBer spots, we need to be interchangeable, which I have heard the LBers say that Steele has them all playing all 3 spots.

He redshirted in 2013 as a sophomore, so last year he was a redshirt sophomore, this year redshirt junior. Came out of high school as a player, so hopefully he can take that leap this year. Otherwise we're looking GRIM to say the least next year at LB.

I realize this goes without saying but LSU has to be extremely attractive atm for a quality backer

Seems like 4 ever since LB was a team strength. Is that the case, or just my poor memory? Certainly Faulk James et al were really good. Which crews that were really good since them am I missing - when I say really good, I'm talking to the point of being a team strength.

I remember reading somewhere that every linebacker was learning all the positions

2010 was really good with Sheppard and Baker.

Hell, even last year's threesome of Kwon, Louis, and Beckwith were stout once Beckwith got the starting nod.

I hope Feist can play well. He is a red shirt JR now, but LSU hasn't had much luck with players in the past with a few exceptions that became contributors after four years in the system. This isn't a knock on LSU at all as major college teams across the board usually "process" these guys or they move on to weaker competition.

I think Riley and the three starters are legit LBs and hoping one or two of the remaining four can step up. Next year I see at least one and probably two trues starting at LB. I hope I'm wrong.

Seems Fiest has gotton good reports from practices the last two years. Didn't he get a good bit of PT last season? Don't remember him standing out or anything though. What about Michael Patterson? He came in a couple years ago with a lot of stars and good hype. Haven't heard anything about him since he arrived.

Patterson played some LB in the spring IIRC. He's back at end now.
