. Second half was like last week, trying to sit on a lead

How so?

Fournette fumbled twice in the second half turning the ball over. One was on 4th down up 17 in the 4th quarter... How is that sitting on a lead, seems like being aggressive and trying to add to it

It was nice to see a run game that doesn't involve the fullback 90% of the time. The area of the biggest improvement was the variation of run plays. There were trap plays, counter plays, sweeps, zone-reads, and mis-directions plays. That sort of variability is what you need to win.. you can't just out muscle people in the I-formation all the time. A competent passer and a guy who works the pocket opens up the run game for LF7. Had LF7 not fumbled twice, we would have been up over 35+.

I would like to see plays called in faster though.. the time management, communication of plays, and play-calling was abysmal in the end of the first half.

I'll give credit to Miles and staff though. They addressed the one-dimensional offense and passed more. 19/30 for 63% was fantastic start. Attempting 30 passes helps LF7 more than you know.. it unloads the box and gets them to respect the passing game.

Which I don't mind. You have 3 in the pocket, why risk an errant end zone throw for a turnover

The drive during the last fumble was one of the best called I've ever seen from an LSU team. Without the fumble it's likely a 99 yard methodical drive.

Agreed. The drive that statted at the 1 was amazigly called. The drives starting the second half until this drive were vintage Les Miles though...but that fumble drive was a well called drive.

Agreed. For some reason, we just can't seem to execute well in the second half

and still plenty of ground and pound against a good D-Line.

Still won't work against Alabama.

Yep. Still play really really slow. I always thought playing faster was an advantage for more athletic teams, less thinking with more reacting is an easier call than waiting for the perfect formation to have a successful down.

From what I saw, there were plays in there that Harris didn't get. The scramble/roll out plays, that shovel pass....That variation/variety of plays was what we needed...there was play action as well. It was great. Why wasn't Harris able to get this selection or do these plays? Harris can run too, so why didn't we see that from him?

Harris has to execute the plays he is given to get more. Don't you play video games? You have to pass level 4 to get to level 20.

I think Etling will handle this trip to Auburn just fine... he seems like the type that in between the lines "its all the same". Yes, we might lose the advantage of the snap count but, Etling will have yet another week under his belt with the first recievers to carve up Auburn.

No he didn't. Cam's play calling in the first half was terrible

You really think that shovel pass was a called play?

I didn't see one play last night that wasn't called when harris was the QB. What we all saw was better execution.

What I saw was an OC calling more pass plays because he was confident his QB would make the proper reads and check down to the open receiver.

harris can run. He just doesn't like to.

I read another post pointing your points out and agreed after seeing the play calls and formations that we didn't execute like we should or could have. I was wrong, should have rewatched the game before my stupid comment.

Last night was the closest our offense looked to 2007 since the title game vs OSU.

Check downs, TEs involved in the game, a QB stepping up in the pocket and tucking it in when nothing was open.

It was refreshing for sure.

I'm no Miles defender by any means but he did not choke Cam down at all in the second half. We were still trying to sling the ball all over the place. The problem I have with the second half is the team just doesn't appear to come out focused after half time and I blame that on the head coach. It seems to happen way too often.
When are we going to start holding the players accountable?

LSU needs extra strength and conditioning. They don't have the endurance for the second half. I know many would rather keep Miles because that means keeping Moffit. A new coach is not going to retain moffit

agree

I am happy Les is allowing him to give it a go with a QB that can handle the full play book
