The play-calling showed it all last night--single back sets, shotgun sets, trick plays (not executed well, but they were called) and still plenty of ground and pound against a good D-Line. If this is the offense the coaches wanted in the offseason, then I'm perfectly fine with it.

I think it's clear the coaches still didn't trust Harris against UW and tried to coach around him, hoping he'd just survive enough to get to more practice time. It backfired, but it is what it is. For now--can't believe I'm saying it--I'm happy with the LSU offense.

From what I saw, there were plays in there that Harris didn't get. The scramble/roll out plays, that shovel pass....That variation/variety of plays was what we needed...there was play action as well. It was great. Why wasn't Harris able to get this selection or do these plays? Harris can run too, so why didn't we see that from him?

And just because Less does not have a play sheet in his hand does not mean he does not control the play calling. They plan for the whole game and then adjust that game plan at halftime depending on flow of game etc...well at least the good coaches do. There is no doubt that the play calling went from aggressive in the first half to LESS in the second.

Only disagreed with the last three plays of the 1st half. Run, run, fade....after the two failed runs and little time, everyone in the stadium had to know we were going to run that darn predictable route. As the season unfolds, and Etling gets more reps with the receivers, a back shoulder throw will catch teams by surprise and lead to points in those situations. Should have looked for the TE on one of those plays. The old block, block, roll out to the flat wide open for a TD.

It was great to see a balanced Tiger O last night, keep working at it. Our best OFF is still ahead of us.

I have to agree...couple of execution erreos made it look bad, but play calling and strategy looked good to me.

I kinda of agree with you but some of the play calling had me scratching my head. For instance the play calling before half-time and one of the last serious with LSU trying to run out the clock. I did like the fact that they seemed to pass when it seemed like an LSU run was coming. Why does LSU not use 4 Wr sets that open up space for running and passing? I give offense a C last night but hey a C is better than what we have seen the last few years .

Agree with the OP. Glad the continued to throw in the second half even with a big lead. Finally, led is calling the plays! Woohoo

Yea. When the line is getting a push consistently all night, it's perfect night to run from that set and keep defenders more honest. We saw none of the "creativity" (1 back set, shotgun), in 2nd half except for that embarrassing end around with 9 in the box late game.

First half was awesome, the players were out there having fun. Second half was like last week, trying to sit on a lead.

The play calling was a lot better, but there were still mistakes.

We ran the ball twice with under a minute left before half.

clearly they didn't trust Harris. Very obvious now. I get it. I like Etling but road games and him scare me. But it looks to be his team now, we'll see.

But it's 100% clear that this staff knew what Harris could and couldn't do.

Coaches call plays that players are capable of running.

You either didn't watch the game or don't know what the hell you're talking about. Even the announcers were complaining that we weren't running enough.

The drive during the last fumble was one of the best called I've ever seen from an LSU team. Without the fumble it's likely a 99 yard methodical drive.

I'm no Miles defender by any means but he did not choke Cam down at all in the second half. We were still trying to sling the ball all over the place. The problem I have with the second half is the team just doesn't appear to come out focused after half time and I blame that on the head coach. It seems to happen way too often.
