Cam Cam and spread offenses

More and more of the bigger college programs are becoming read option/spread offense teams and the success is undeniable. At FSU and Auburn, as well as before on Meyer's UF teams we are seeing it run by teams who can also recruit quality defensive talent, with impressive results. Cam Cameron is a very good pro-style OC and turned Mett's, and LSU's fortunes, around in short order. Do you think he sticks with the conventional offense, or does he consider modifying it to the newer style.

F$U is running a spread? They look like a multiple offense to me. They did run some 4-5 WR sets, but that was dictated by the game.

I have no problem with the type of offense we run. I however do have a problem with what seemed like 70% of our snaps in I-formation starting with the Florida game on. There's only so much you can do out of that.

Hybrid of the two systems. I do believe that LSU will have a QB with good or minimum standard mobility. I do not believe LSU under Miles/Cameron will jump to the read option as a majority style. LSU will still attempt to have a 50/50 run/pass ydg balance depending on game needs.
The message of this to the current QBs is Jennings and Harris must be able to pass effectively. Rivers and Rettig must be able to scramble, run some basic draws and boots, and rollout effectively.

My guess is he'll incorporate some more read option because it will likely play to the strengths of the QBs but one of the great things about running a pro style offense is that because so many teams are running spread that it's a significant difference when a defense has to face LSU.

People tend to mix up "spread" with majority of shogun snaps.
People think SCAR runs the spread, which they don't.
Besides, a WR set does not indicate a spread. You can spread the field with 2 Wide and two tights in the slot. It's just spread the defense out horizontally to create passing and running lanes vertically.
But no, we don't have spread athletes, nor do I want to see the spread. That Iow game was fantastic. We scored when we needed to and just pounded them into submission. The pro style/pro set offenses will never go away. The spread will fade as did the wishbone and veer ect.

Any good coach will change the offense to take advantage of the talent.
Cam Cameron seems comfortable with recruiting both types of college QBs and will take advantage of the best talent on the team.

Coach Cameron can design an offense to mirror any out there. But he has a boss who has a vision of how to win in the SEC, and the boss voice speaks louder than Coach Cameron's.

Or maybe our current personnel best fits the scheme we had this year? Cameron isn't going to come in and NOT run the best offense to allow us to win.
How would you have improved our offense this year? We clearly had all kinds of trouble.

I hope we go 3-4 wide at utilize all this riiculous talent we have. That also means Desean Smith and Jacory Washington in two TE sets with two WRs out wide. We have 3 good receiving RBs now plus they are all/will be beasts in the run game.
2 WRs should finish with at least 700 yards (3 at least 400), 1 TE should have at least 300 yards, 1 RB at least 300 yards

its not the scheme, its the play calling at critical times and execution. How many SEC titles have been won by the spread the past few years versus a pro-set offense?

I for one would love to keep pro style forever but I'm a firm believer in playing to player's strengths. Depends on who we have behind center.

Why not an offense that suits the strengths of the offensive personnel that is on campus and coming in soon? I would think that an offense that presents multiple sets and formations for an opposing defense to prepare for would be ideal at LSU. The quality of athletes that LSU has will make it a nightmare to prepare for when you can throw every formation possible at them. Spread mixed with a pro-style attack would be hard to defend.

Bama doesn't even run power as much as in the past. They have gone to more zone blocking schemes and utiliZe more one back sets. I feel we are too locked into using two backs and trying to just run it down your throat. I don't want us to change philosophies but we have to be more multiple or things won't change. Well unless we assemble a 2011 type defense.
