Seriously? How old are you? The term crank caller has been around a long time. It is used in reference to the caller being a crank.
There was even a TV show using puppets based on people making crank call called Crank Yankers. It was created by Jimmy Kimmel, Adam Carolla and Daniel Kellison. here is a link

God I loved that format. DiNardo's show was like that. It was very popular in the 90s. But now I think coaches have gotten too paranoid to actually comment on individual plays like that.
