Sort of. I think it spoke volumes when CPM left Newman in to close the second Vandy game. If Newman had been available on Saturday I think he would have closed that game. In short, I don't think we have a closer. I think that when the situation necessitates it we'll use Gilbert, but CPM will try to avoid it.

After Saturday I think it's clear at present that we don't have a "closer." It's a guessing game for us.
We have about 4 guys who could pitch great or who could implode. Gilbert has the velocity and lots of talent. Players learn - especially young ones.
Still have hopes this team can continue improving, finding all the pieces, and make a post-season run.

Thats why gilbert was warming and ready to come in friday?
He is still the closer, if not for newman striking out everyone, PM goes gilbert in the 9th, he basically said as much
