Highland looks a lot worse than Nicholson IMO heading into campus.

This is for the poli board but let's not sit here and act like one party is solely responsible for the state's mess. All of those slimy fricks had a hand in it for decades.

Too bad we'll be 40 when (if) it happens. It would be great to ride the streetcar to the downtown bars from campus.

Would be nice to see some improvements and make sure to stop the 18 wheel truck traffic.

Jindal did a great job balancing the budget. Can you believe the surplus he will leave the state? And how much he has allowed for the growth of Louisiana's higher education?

Mike Moreno was doing that on the river side of Nicholson. Unfortunately other thigs got in the way.

To be clear...it was someone else's idea. When they needed funding for the project, Mike was one of the individuals who they approached. That was a mistake as he has proven over and over that he has no moral compass. Google Mike M and you will see why that property may not be developed for a while. He will be fighting to keep his sorry a$$ out of jail so I doubt that the Nicholson project is a top priority right now.

They introduced the Garden District trolley

Thing is, it's a bus, not a trolley. What they're planning for Nicholson would be a true trolley/streetcar. It may seem like semantics, but it makes a difference in ridership. Look at NOLA, every time they open a new streetcar line it makes money. Meanwhile the busses roll empty.

That plus it would run from campus to downtown. The garden dist bus isn't catering to students who might want to go downtown to party - or people staying in downtown hotels for games.

This man gets it...

A Nicholson Dr. trolley would be a huge hit, not just to go downtown, but to connect to the proposed rail link to New Orleans. And not just from LSU, but to LSU as well. Might be what's needed to alleviate traffic on gamedays.

what places do you have in mind? I don't see why you should do that, I know there are some more beat up places on Nicholson but people live there, have businesses there. It's a bad part of town, but I don't think we should just go in and snatch it all away. Nicholson is on the edge of campus anyway so it's no big deal.

The dramatic transformation of Nicholson into a true Urban corridor is exciting! The Gateway Project + River District & River House along with the Water Campus will look great between LSU/Downtown!

A nicholson streetcar or BRT would be great on gamedays. The problem with busses and trolleys (like the garden district trolley) is they are not seperated from traffic. If you have a LRT/BRT that has its own lanes and the advanced light so that the BRT/LRT never sits at a light it will be great. I personally want BR to copy Cleveland's healtline BRT but add elevated pedestrian walkways by Tiger Stadium and Alex Box and physically seperate the bus and car lanes and not just a painted line. IMO Nashville royally f**ked up when they abandoned the AMP in january.

There is room by Tiger Stadium and Alex Box to redesign Nicholson to have stations like this. There needs to be elevated pedestrian crosswalks with or without a LRT/BRT line. Downtown there isn't room but there is probably room like the Cleveland stations.
