Why can't Shep be used like Sean Payton uses Reggie Bush? He seems like a hybrid player instead of fitting a traditional mold. Perfect for creating mismatches on linebackers, thoughts?

If we had a QB that could see all the open receivers on the field, he could be used in that manner.
We got JJ who can rarely even find anybody except his primary receiver.

cuz JJ can't throw a screen/dump off pass. and apparently it has to be a perfect pass for Shep to catch it. I actually wish we'd stop throwing to him so much. Randle and Toliver have much better hands.

Because sean payton is an offensive genius and one of the best playcallers in the league. Also, because of what drew brees can do to a defense

We need to hit Randle and Shep on the WR middle screen. Those guys with a head of steam with some space to run is scary. But then again, the option seems to be working just fine.

I think it has taken SP about 2-3 years to figure out how best to utilize Bush in their scheme.

In '06/'07 when they tried to center too much of their scheme around Bush their O stalled. When they shifted the center to Brees it took-off.

In '07 with Flynn, our O was a exciting/productive as the Saints are now.

Shep does need to work on his hands.

NFL is an entirely different ballgame when it comes to the complexity of the offenses and defenses. Especially in SPs offense..

I don't think Brees was ever not the center.

But the offense still heavily revolves around Bush, even if that doesn't mean him touching the ball every play...

to be fair it only took SP about 3 years to figure out how to use him. by the time shepard is a senior we will have figured it out.
