That sucks.......perhaps instead of taking a knee we should have punted against Ole Miss.

That would have been totally priceless!

Would that outcome had been disrespectful to Ole Miss fans as well?

They might as well give that award back or mail it to WING.

I wish he would have punted it backwards.

From Stewart Mandel's twitter:

Just looking over award finalists. No Brad Wing for the Ray Guy? That award is dead to me.

Wing is as big of a weapon I have ever seen from the Punter position. I kept calling him dead-eye dick during the GOC. That 72 yard punt was nearly as big of a play as the Reid INT.

Congrats on being more qualified to hand out awards than the Ray Guy Award committee. Granted, they didn't set the bar very high.

link to national stats, can't find how many he dropped inside the 20 though - which is apparently one of the criteria for the award based on their website. i'd have to think he'd be pretty high up on that list though. based purely on this though, not sure how auburn's punter made it

ncaa punting stats

Return yards.

His hang-time is incredible. His punts are nearly nonreturnable.

Steven Clark has allowed only 41 punt return yards all season. That's on 64 punts. So he averages about 0.64 return yards per punt.

And I know none of you guys are going to attribute that to Auburn's superior tackling abilities

but Allen will know that he's not even the best college punter in the State.

I'm not saying he's better than Wing. I'm saying that he deserves consideration.

Wing doesn't qualify.

Wing has only allowed SIX return yards, yes 6, all year, and has only allowed 13 returns in 40 total punts with 21 of 40 landing inside the 20. i have no idea the number, but i'd say most of those are also inside the 10. if there really is a rule you have to have 3.8 punts a game, that's a shame. no need to penalize a guy because the offense doesn't need to punt.
