I see a lot of people getting bent out of shape about the prospect of going to the chick fil a bowl. While disappointment is understandable, try to have some perspective. We are the exact same team we were on Thursday, the only difference is some teams we hoped would lose actually won. The bowl system is rigged, if you let the end of the season ranking be your bench mark, the season looks much more palatable. If we do go to chick fil a, it's not like we automatically become a mediocre team.

Agreed. When put in a perceived lesser bowl the remedy is to destroy the opponent and let everyone know that the match up was wrong and LSU was more worthy of a better bowl.

Cotton being added was helpful to us. We're an attractive team to them. A&M being added does not help for this bowl though.

I'm ok with chick fil a, cap one or cotton. Given how erratic our play has been all season, 10-2 ain't a totally bad outcome. But BCS-worthy? Not quite.

How is 10-2 mediocre?
How is #7 out of 120 or so teams mediocre?
LSU fans that say that LSU is mediocre, their brains are less than mediocre.

It's not and I believe the OP said that we aren't. I think the point of the OP is that just because the bowl is mediocre (which it is by our standards) it doesn't diminish what the team has accomplished.

What is great for the team that won the first game about playing a team you already beat?

I would tend to agree with this. I think the problem in the system is that a potential 7-6 GaTech team will get a BCS bid by beating FSU in the ACC-CG, and the Big LEast keeps getting watered down every year but still gets to send their champ to a BCS bowl.

Then we'll watch them on TV get pounded in a half-empty stadium, when everyone knows of at least a half-dozen other teams that would be more attractive in the BCS game.

There are BCS bowls that would love to take us. It's that dumb "everybody gets a star on their forehead, social promotion, make room for everybody else" mentality of the BCS rules. We're the #7 team in the country and there'll be some teams outside the top 10 go to BCS bowls ahead of us due to the conference tie-ins etc. Just the way it is. The BCS has never been about the best teams playing the best teams.
