re: Had Lagavulin 8 this weekend - wahootiger
Anyone else try anything new in the whiskey world lately.
Just tried Highland Park 12. I liked it. Really smooth for a Pretty moderately priced single malt. Some peat and smoke but not as potent as a lgavulin or laphroig. I like that style whisky, but nice to have something a ...

How do you do that logistically? I add browned drums sticks in and let them go low and slow for a few hours. Seems strange to do that with already cooked turkey....

Turkey stock in chicken/sausage gumbo - wahootiger
Going to be making a chicken sausage gumbo for the GFs parents on Saturday. They don't have any saved chicken bones to make stock. I was thinking of using the carcass from the today's turkey and substituting that stock in. Has anyone tried this? Seems like the flavor profiles will be consisten...

re: Spicy and non-Spicy gumbo - wahootiger
A gumbo can be seasoned well and not be "spicy." I think people get that confused when they claim "Cajun" cooking.
I agree, but she is one of those people who doesn't like even the slightest bit of heat. I think any modicum of Cajun "well seasoned" will be too spicy for her ...

Spicy and non-Spicy gumbo - wahootiger
Gumbo aficionados, I have a request from my girlfriend's parents (they are from Connecticut, for what it's worth) to make some gumbo over Thanksgiving weekend. I typically make a chicken and andouille. Unfortunately, my GFs mom has 0 spice tolerance, while everyone else (Gf, her dad and broth...

Eifert or Davis - wahootiger
Looking like Eifert might be limited, who do you start. Aside, I also have Jordan Reed. I've been waiting all season for he and Eifert to be healthy at the same time so I can run my Les Miles, 2 tights, high-octane offense....
Are you thinking about going to the The Veil tomorrow for their oyster stout release?
Potentially, I might try to go for a hike near Cville if this rain ends up clearing out, and I wonder how long the Stouts are going to last. Veil has some very solid brews. Richmond has re...

FBD after a 9 mile run in the rain. This has some good spice, but still a little too early in the year for it. ...

Jesus H. Christ. Is the writing on the walls for Miles? Yes. Does he deserve to get let go if the same mistakes that happened in the Wisconsin game, and that have been happening over the last few years, continue and we drop games? Yes. Shocking though it may seem based on the posts of thi...

FBD is well deserved, after the travel day began at 3:45 this morning. Thanks for the tips on where to acquire the goods en route, decided to stock up on cigar city that I haven't seen in RVA. [img]http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/o596/dep4y/62B8C364-4736-4D9B-8869-BFAF9BA09225_zpslcnegwl2....
