We did a big loop of Bilbao, Logrono, Bordeaux, San Sebastián, and then back to Bilbao, with some stops along the way. If you are into wine I would definitely recommend getting down into La Rioja, not too far from the Basque region....

Did a trip up to that region last year. It was great, very different feel from the "traditional" Spain of the south or Barcelona....

Virginia. I am biased, but the area around Charlottesville is beautiful with plenty of wineries and a lot of great restaurants in town. Also, the Northern VA area (around Leesville) is supposed to be very nice as well. Horse country....

If you are going to check out rioja, I recommend staying in Logrono, it is central to a lot of wine bodegas and has a cool feel. Definitely check out La Gurdia, it is a beautiful fortified midevil towns set on a hill with awesome views of the wine country. Plus, rioja wine is delicious and rel...

Northern Spain/Basque country is worth checking out. Great food and scenery, very green. Also some good beaches. La Rioja is a great wine region. San Sebastian is an awesome city....
