What players do off the field is not an "aspect of the program" that he has any control over. He can only preach about how they represent the university in the classrom and in public and set the guidelines.....then take appropriate action when they fail to live up to those guidelines. That is what he is doing here and he has always done, even if it cost the team wins in 2008 and 2009. Seems to me that the players get an awful lot of the credit when things go right. Tell me I'm wrong. Shouldn't THEY justifiably get the blame when they don't?
