....but the loss to texas in the cotton bowl was tough on many levels, won't bore you with the "CSB" but that one lingered for an unusually long time.

1/9/12 is the obvious answer for multiple reasons.

But personally, the losses that pissed me off even worse were:
2006 AU
2007 KY
2004 Iowa
2005 Tenn

In that order. PreSaban losses sucked but were kind of expected.

This because we couldn't play again the next week to make ourselves forget about it. It was an 8 month meltdown

Loss to arky in 2007. National title aspirations gone--or so we thought at the time.

1/9/12 will always hurt for obvious reasons, but the better team won

Auburn '06 burns my arse to no end, the better team lost and it still makes me sick! Absolute coaching disaster in this one, opinions vary on whose fault it really was...regardless it was inexcusable

1/9/12 for me...not because we lost but how we lost...we didn't show up at all on offense and it was embarrassing on the biggest college football stage...that it happened against Bama just adds some salt to the wound...

you talking about PP7's int, or Jamie Howard's interception-fest in '93 (I think?) ?

objectively games like this bring me way lower than losing to an oustanding Bama team on 1/9/12

I will never jump on board the popular almost childish concurrence that losing the national championship game by 21 or 41 and throwing around a bunch of coulda shoulda wouldas is the worst loss in history. fiddlesticks.

To me, losing to UAB, blowing the Auburn lead, Losing to Matt Freaking Jones on converted 4th and long, etc hurt MUCH worse b/c the national stage and audience and all the hoopla are irrelevant to the game on the field.I know that sounds sabanesque. oh well. I'd take 4 losses to bama in BCS games over another UAB upset.

was at the 82 game. I didn't understand what was going on but I remember some VERY foul language from LSU fans toward the Green team.

How ya figure? The better PREPARED team won, not the better team. Les sheet the bed on this one. No ifs, ands, or buts.

I watched a 15 minute condensed version of it on the Roku SEC channel yesterday. The offense was so putrid, there were almost no highlights shown of LSU on offense, other than a few drive ending sacks and that freakin' JJ shuffle pass.

What was truly impressive was that the LSU defense, while being on the field constantly and bending a decent amount, didn't break until the TD later in the 4Q.

As shitty as the O played, and that's an understatement, they almost got back into it after JJ rushed to about the 30 in the 4Q. A TD at that point, and who knows?

Regardless, that game still stings badly. There are a lot of losses out there in my time as an LSU fan (moved to LA in '81, student from '88-'93), but I can't get the sting out of the way we lost that Bama game.

What was the lowest you ever felt after an LSU game?
there have been several but here are 6:
1. A loss to Miss State after we beat Alabama in 1982.

2. Tulane in 1982.

3. Loss to Ole Miss in 09. (This was the worst for me.)

4. 1/9/12.

5 Oh, I forgot (how could I?) The '98 Bama game

6 '94 Auburn . I better stop.

U young pups are spoiled as shite.

UAB, All of the Curley fricking Hallman years, and 58-3 to fricking Steve Spurrier. 1-9-12 was bad, but to me does not compare to a 58-3 shellacking when there is no end in sight for a turnaround. When you look at the schedule and know you can't win week in and week out that is misery.

Only going with modern era since meltdowns are much more epic now due to message boards etc.

2000: UAB Inexcusable. Just inexcusable.

2001: Ole Miss Very underrated and forgotten. People wanted Saban burned at the stake.

2002: Arkansas Not a very good team after Mauck went down but still gave away a trip to ATL. Followed up by bowl beatdown to UT made for a rough offseason. Few expected the dominance we were about to unleash in 03.

2003: Florida No real meltdown but an awful performance by a great team cost us an undefeated season and split title.

2004: Auburn, UGA, Iowa - UGA is easily the worst beatdown of modern era.

2005: UT - Epic, but more pain than anger after everything the team and our state had been through.

2006: Auburn - 100% convinced dirty refs and shitty play calling cost us another NC.

2007: Arkansas Overrated meltdown. We played a great game and came up short in 3OT. Knew OU would beat Missou and Pitt had a good shot against WVU. Meltdown was forgotten in 7 days with NCG bid.

2008: Ole Miss Low point of worst season in modern era along with 02.

2009: Ole Miss - Rantards still hanging on to this one.

2010: Tennessee - Continuation of OM 09 meltdown. Absolute peak of fire Miles hysteria.

2011: Mulligan Tide Just unfortunate that this ever even happened. Rematch was complete BS, but we were totally outprepared and outplayed. Our limited O never had a chance against that D for a second time. Should never have happened.

The 01 Ole Miss game, 09 Ole Miss game, 10 UT win, and 1/9 are all pretty close, but 1/9 takes the cake because of the stakes, and as others have said, the sheer duration of the meltdown because we didn't play again for 8 months.

This was the most painful 6550th post of all time

2007 Arky was the worst for me personally.

I was at the Kentucky game, and that loss was god awful, but the Arky game was worse because we had our spot in the NC wrapped up and then dropped it in the toilet.

I think this loss gets over looked because we still ended up winning, but the time between that game and the SECCG was a really bad one for tiger fans.

Should be this one, but we weren't nearly the program we are now and losing those type of games at the time wasn't as bad as it would be now. I'll go with Tenn in 05. We were kicking that arse at halftime and then ran out of gas. Might have been Miles first or second game. What a bad start to such a great career here.
