No contest ! 1/9/12 For all the marbles and we didn't show up.

UAB, All of the Curley fricking Hallman years, and 58-3 to fricking Steve Spurrier. 1-9-12 was bad, but to me does not compare to a 58-3 shellacking when there is no end in sight for a turnaround. When you look at the schedule and know you can't win week in and week out that is misery.
Was there for 58-3. I maintain the sense of objectivity from earlier post. Take each game and put it in a practice facility with just players and coaches played on Tuesday night with results and stats sent out to media afterwards?
LSU loses to an NFL talent laden Bama team. LSU makes tons of mistakes and bad coaching decisions. Shoulda played Mett. blah blah.
or
LSU loses to 10-7 on a field goal to UAB who JUST got a football program like two years(not sure) before?
Call me stupid or special for being able to view each game this way but from this pure X and Os perspective, UAB loss SUCKS while Bama just kinda hurts a little.

The loss to Miami of Ohio in 1986. I think LSU was ranked #8 in the country. Miami of Ohio had no business winning that game. I was in shock after that game.
This
LSU was in the same position Arkansas was in, and a lowly mid major came in and beat them. LSU actually had a very good team that year, unlike Arkansas though.

worst one for me was the triple overtime loss to Arkansas in 2007.

Jan 9, 2012-nothing else is even close.

After one of the UF/Spurrier beatdowns when I realized the program had become a defacto Wyoming Homecoming game that better teams would want to schedule. That sucked.

What was the lowest you ever felt after an LSU game?
Easily the 2011 BCS NC. We had a rare, historic chance to secure an undisputed national championship and and an undefeated season, and to do it in our home state, no less. Instead, we were humilated by our archrival from the SEC West and our former head coach. We weren't even competitive. There quite literally cannot be a more devastating loss: (a) ruined national championship; (B) ruined undefeated season; (c) humiliated in our own state: (d) by our hated SEC rival; (e) helmed by our own former head coach. Nothing compares.
Arkansas 2007 is second. I was furious in the immediate aftermath. Thankfully, WVU blessed us with their incompetence.
Note that both of my worst losses had tangible national championship implications.

Easily the 58-3 loss to Florida back in the 90s.

I would add to that losing to Tulane the week after blowing up Florida State to get an Orange Bowl bid.
All week long everyone had been talking about getting revenge for getting crushed by Tulane the year before.

Loss to Iowa in CapOne Bowl as pretty bad and made worse by Saban leaving.
Although 1/9/12 is the sickest I have ever felt.

the thing that made that so bad was even in the worst defeats..there's always somehting to cheer about..a first down..a completed pass..a 5 yard run...
we didn't even get that on 1/9. just 3 hours of sheer hell..one ineffective down after another.
i can't remember erasing a game off my dvr so fast in my life.

Our biggest loss and biggest meltdown, by far, and I don't think it will ever be surpassed, was 1/9/12.

My first game in Tiger Stadium was a complete let down. Tennessee 2005. But with everything surrounding the university after Katrina I can kind of give that game a pass.

1960 Sugar Bowl
Ole Miss and LSU are now conference rivals but the Rebels beat the Tigers that year in order to lay claim to the national championship, 21-0. Since then, they have not been shut out in any bowl.
What makes this game even worse is that LSU was ranked third in the country and was at least supposed to put up a fight down the road from home in New Orleans. Ole Miss held the team to just 74 total yards of offense, including an incredible -15 yards rushing. Not a good look
1950 Sugar Bowl
LSU wasn’t supposed to beat the No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners but the Tigers failed to even show up to the Sugar Bowl, losing the game 35-0.
But what really set this game apart was the fact that former LSU player Piggy Barnes was caught spying on the Sooners with a telescope and camera. So the Tigers cheated and got crushed. Ouch.
