Beating Oregon State by one point but OS had to miss 3 extra points to do it; another Saban masterpiece.

1. 1998 Bama (was last chance since '69 to beat Bama in Tiger Stadium, up by ?12 with not much time to go and Bama scores twice). Never been truly depressed about something as unimportant as a football game before or since.

2. '79 USC

'79 Bama was such a lopsided 3-0 game that I never thought we had a chance (don't think we crossed the 50). I sat through it, too, so I paid the price but got what I expected.

When you lose 3-0 it's your own goddamned fault not the rain their offense should have gotten their asses in gear

I have to go with Bama 2012 too. Only home loss during my time as a grad student.

I'm shocked at all the Bama 12 mentions.

That was an incredible game and both teams balled out. It sucked to lose, but that was nothing compared to 09 Florida to me.

Only time I've ever seen LSU play to avoid getting blown out at home. It was a total embarassment.

Tennessee 05

Not really. We weren't supposed to be up 21-0. They were better than us early in season

'97 ND. Y'all say rain. I specifically remember some sort of frozen pellet falling on me. Had an old fart ND fan and his walking dead wife pulling on my sweatshirt literally 30 sec after kickoff. "Sit down!" I calmly and soberly explained to him that I flew down from ATL for the game and would be standing quite a bit. Thomas Dunson, Lou Tepper and the drop LB quickly changed that. We made an option QB from Tupelo, MS look like Case Keenum against conf USA. Jarius Jackson. Met Benny Gilbeaux's (ND safety from Opelousas) sister outside the stadium before the game and listened to her explain Curly Hallman's recruiting ineptitude. My Girlfriend was being a *UNT about me drinking.
Did I mention how much this game sucked balls?
