Biggest concern: DE or QB?

We had terrible QB play last year but we are returning both scholarship qbs. We also expect Harris, the more talented of the 2, to be the starter. We are returning every wr who caught a pass last year, which will be a huge help for Harris.

At DE, not only we had the second worst pass rush in the sec, but we lost both starters. We have coach O now, but he is working with a group of DEs that combine for only 2.5 career sacks.

What is more likely to you, a improved pass rush or improved QB play?

Try to stay civilized. This is a discussion not a roast

Well, the QB play can't possibly be worse.

Improved QB play is more likely. Not only pass rush, but run defense has me a tad uneasy. I absolutely hate it when teams can just run left, right, or up the middle on us.

You shut your whore mouth.
But yeah.. I remember when he came out for a few plays against bama. They gained like 20 yards on 3 rushes up the middle like it was nothing (when they hadn't been moving the ball at all).

Biggest concern is obviously still QB play. DE play and a better overall pass rush would be much appreciated lagniappe. We still had the #1 defense (in some stats) in the SEC with the second to last amount of sacks.
If both improve we're goin' to da ship.

I have faith in our offense this year since we are older in basically every position. I'm hoping coach O lives up to the hype and gets out pass rush better, but I'm skeptical about our inexperience at the position.

Not that concerned with DE. Bower has some experience and has looked solid and I think Neal really turns some heads this year and impresses. And we have enough bodies to throw out there to get solid play and production with guys like Teuhema, Clark, Key, Washington, etc. More concerned about DT than DE.

But QB play is the key for us. Good play, we can have an excellent year and be in the thick of things. If QB play is similar to last years play, it will be a tough year. We've got a great OL and great skill players on offense, just need the QB play to get there. And I think it does with Harris.

I'm going with QB play until I see different against State and Auburn. I'm with you though on the DEs.

There a lot of very thin positions this year, middle linebacker being one of them. I would really like to see someone be able to play there adequately as a backup. Beckwith will likely be very good but everyone needs a sub sometimes. Don't know if anyone has really established themselves as having that second spot locked up.

both are a concern, but QB is the biggest. It's the most important spot on the field, and we just have to have better play there. Contrary to other's opinions about DE, we just didn't get many big plays from them last year, so our DEs this year are merely ok, we'll be about the same on D, which turned out to be pretty good.

Yes, there are other concerns, but our season rides on our QB play.

imo, our DE's last year were not the greatest. I wanted them to return because of experience only. I think our DE's this year will be about equal to those last years guys.

QB? will be much improved.

my biggest concern is depth in our front 7 and our OL. an injury or two could seriously deplete this club

Quarterback play for me by far. We have enough athletes on D that we can get a stop when we need one. If we have no threat of a passing game, we are toast until we develop one. We can pound the rock all we want, 8 and 4 is all we got without better QB play.
