Is astonishing. The fact that that dude can play basketball is insane to me.

I know the stories about Saban thinking he could be the greatest LT of alltime. I've always wondered what could be had he tried it.

Dude played RB for his high school team. Big Baby is an athletic freak.

He never would have made the money he made in the NBA playing football, and his body will take less of a pounding overtime.

I have no doubt he'd kick arse on the Riverdance circuit too.

He's a good NBA player, but a hall of fame type left tackle.

He chose well because basketball has fewer health risks, but not in regards to earning potential. He would've made more money in the NFL.

He went to a final four, got drafted, won an NBA championship, has made millions, and has not had any serious injury problems.

I'd say there's nothing wrong with his decision to be a basketball player.

if he's a top 10 OT pick in the NFL around the time he'd have been eligible (07-08), he'd likely have made more money (or pretty much the same) off just the guarantees in his rookie deal than he's made in his NBA career.

not knocking his career choice, just saying.

Based on what exactly? His measurables only? What if he didn't have the physicality or disposition required to be an elite lineman (I.e. A giant pussy)? I'm not saying he didn't, just something to consider as to why he didn't go the football route.

I'm always amazed that he doesn't get tired from running up and down the floor one time. He defies all conditioning and training logic.

His measurables and footwork. Plus he played football and high school, by all accounts he was tough and loved contact. Just had more fun playing basketball

Being able to get out of bed without pain at age 50 and lack of brain damage is worth the pay cut.

The exact opposite is true.

He's a basketball player in a LT body.

NBA contracts are 100 percent guarenteed. That's always a better move than football if you've got the option

This sounds like a myth. I cannot envision Saban being this goo goo eyed over any high school player before he ever set foot on a college football field.

Did Baby ever attend summer camps where he could be evaluated against something other than the overmatched competition he faced at a 2A school?
