What stood out to you this year as moments you'll never forget this year? Either a play or a time you and a friend were talkin and you just had that feeling, or anytime you were just proud to be a tiger this year.
For me, the first came in Dallas with TM7's fumble recovery for a touchdown. That was the first time my adrenaline started pumping and made me feel like this season had the potential to be really special.
The second, and by far the biggest, was the Northwestern game at halftime for the 9/11 show. I am in tiger band and was in my 5th day of middle school (6th grade) on 9/11. I am from New York across the bay from Manhattan and could see the smoke from the towers from my house and school. It's an image I'll never be able to forget. Had my classroom been on the other side of the building, I would have watched the 2nd tower come down. If you remember, tiger band took their hats off for Amazing Grace. With those hats and the brims, you can really only see 10 rows or so of the stands. When we took the hats off I could see the whole western side of the stadium. It will be the only time I ever see that from the field. It was great to see that half a country away, and in an entirely different culture, I got to have that experience with fellow tigers and fellow Americans that most people from my town would never even dream of.
The next was during the Auburn game. That span of about 10 minutes when the team was playing on a level I've only seen in video games. Every tackle was a sportscenter hit and offensive play felt like a huge gain. If there was ever a time that a team could play perfectly in every sense of the game, that was it.
The last one I'll share was after the SECCG. Obviously being a northern transplant and having nearly no exposure to real college football, I wasn't always an LSU fan (or college football fan for that matter). I became one in 2003 after the national championship and really fell in love with the team in 2006. So I read up on the history and read about the horrible years in the late 80s/early 90s. I am a jets fan so I can empathize with being irrelevant but still being a huge fan. When Les got up to speak during the trophy celebration and we played All of the Lights and All I Do Is Win, the feeling came over me that I was a part of the glory days of LSU football. 50 years from now when the team cycles through some bad periods and some more good periods, we will look back and talk about the 3 National Championship appearances in 9 years (and counting). It was just a very surreal moment and one that I'll never forget. It was like feeling patriotic, but for LSU and being proud to be a Tiger.
What stood out to you this year?
Honorable mention: I didn't put this because I wasn't at the game but ... I was at the Varsity for the Bama game. Once the game went into overtime I knew the tigers had it. That was the time when I knew this team was going to the BCSCG and nothing was going to stop us.
