And passing a ton.
He scored he rebounded and he passed a lot to players who didn’t make points.
People still liked Josh Gray better.

I think Johnny Jones gets the blame on that one. He had a senior leader on the team with a history of triple doubles and basically just gave his role away to a freshmen who hadn't earned it. TQ could have responded better, but Jones sold him down the river.
I would like to have seen what CWW would have done with that roster...

Meh, Simmons is a great player but he gets no love from me. That season left a very sour taste in my mouth.
I'm much more interested in guys like Jarrel Martin and Jordan Mickey. Who are getting meaningful minutes on the Grizzlies and Heat, respectively.

You are 1 million% correct. LSU has had TWO overall #1 picks in the last 25 yrs, and both will probably go down as all time greats. That just makes it easier and easier to recruit top talent, who now with Wade here will make LSU top shelf in hoops, where they belong!!!

which made the exploitation of Simmons even more unbearable to him.
there's no exploitation. Simmons didn't have to play in college. He could've played in Europe for a year, or just sat out.
No exploitation of the guy. If anything, he got millions of dollars of exposure playing on an SEC team.

I'll be the contrarian here.
Look, so far Simmons has done very well. No question, and if it continues, I'll certainly eat crow.
But my concern with Simmons was his lack of shooting ability. His recent triple-double game, Simmons made only 1 shot outside the paint, which was his only attempt (18 feet).
In the other 3 games, Simmons DIDN'T EVEN ATTEMPT a shot outside the paint.
No question, with his size and handle, he can easily penetrate if bigger guys try to guard him on the perimeter, and he can score if they continue to do that.
But I think most teams will figure out he's not a threat outside, so they'll sag his defender off and make him score from outside.
If he can consistently do that, he'll be unstoppable. But I have yet to see it. And no other team has even made him try yet.

quote:He has a bunch of great jump shooters on the Sixers, including one of the best in JJ Reddick. Even their starting center is a damn good outside shooter. It's almost like complaining why Shaq didn't shoot more jumpers or try to get to the free throw line more.

Terrible comparison.
Shaq played inside, with his brute strength. That was his game, and no defender was going to be able to force him outside.
Simmons is the opposite - he's a ball handler who plays on the perimeter, in a half-court set. But his defender can prevent him from penetrating, if they sag off.

So LSU fans are still blaming the guy who was the first player in SEC history to be top 5 in points, rebounds, and assists.......
Yep, LSU fans are still retarded

He attempted 2 3-pointers against Toronto. He's got 5 attempts from outside of the paint this season.
He's only made 1, which was your point, but just pointing out the discrepancy in your numbers.

on the shot chart I saw, those 2 looked like from almost half court, so I assumed they were desperate heaves at the end of a quarter or shot clock.
But if those were true 3-pointers, I stand corrected.
