Scary thought that if that is our starting 5 we'll have an All-SEC player coming off the bench.

Hickey will be starting. CJJ will need some experience for the first game at least. I do believe the line up will be subject to change. And I would take hickey over stringer imo. Both can shoot but hickey cause havoc on defense. Ex. Texas a&m game/Bama game/miss st game.

My first thought was the "zone buster" himself, Terry Martin Jr. Greatest basketball tattoo of all time.

We starting 3 freshmen like we kentucky or something!!! Quarterman reminds me of michael-carter-williams with a better shoot for those who think he can't shoot. Hands down he will lead the team in minutes played.

stringer is the better shooter
hickey probably does everything else better though

If you pick between the two to split time with Quartermann and take out Stringer, then we wouldn't have a major threat from 3pt land. Hickey would have to improve from deep for that to be a viable option.

No way anyone gets more minutes than JOB. Martin and Coleman won't be far behind. After that, it'll be Hickey or Stringer.

Insert Hickey...take out Stringer...that's your starting 5.

Yeah I wouldn't like a Quarterman-Hickey backcourt because neither one are scary from behind the 3-point line. To me, Hickey's been the glue for this team the last couple seasons. I doubt he loses his starting spot.

Mickey getting a starting spot is exciting though. Wasn't sure if he would start.

Don't know if it means anything or not. But, the last few times I've heard CJJ talk or seen quotes in the paper the one name that has been not mentioned is Hickey.
After a couple times, I really started wondering if Hickey had gotten in trouble/Doghouse again.

May be nothing, but there may be more to this.
We will see.

Personally, if Quarterman is that good then let him roll.

This is what most people are wondering/thinking about. Hope he is out of trouble.

I have not seen him play. Why do you think he can not shoot?

You do realize Coleman played mostly at 4 last year for us? Or if not mostly he played substantial minutes. He isn't too short to play 3 in college. This isn't NBA and he wouldn't be first 6'6 Player to play SF by long stretch.

As long as Hickey is not injured or doesn't have any non basketball issues then he will be the starting PG.

as a h.s. coach for many years, a coach needs at least 8 "starters" to go at any time... please don't get stuck on a starting "5"

I get people excited about this Quarterman hype; He's been one of my favorite newcomers since his signing, however, I think it's a little too early to for him to overtake Hickey.

This. It's not about who starts, its about sharing minutes. I think Quarterman gets good minutes.

Sure, if he was actually 6'6. He's only listed as 6'5, which means realistically he's probably right around 6'4. I'm not saying he CAN'T play the 3. In fact, I wouldn't be shocked to see him start at the 3 against UMass. I should have said he's probably not your "ideal" 3 and contrary to what the poster I responded to opined, I think that prevents him from logging more minutes than Martin or Mickey (at least initially)

Exactly I know its about minutes especially in a system like coach Jones wants to use. Quarterman will play and play a lot but some or acting like he has taken the job.LOl hickey ain't some chopped liver folks, serious question how many teams in the sec do you think hickey could start for.
