Dion Jones will be one of the best at LSU ever!

He better improve in coverage and he needs to stop getting sucked inside or he will see kenny phillips taking a lot of his snaps.

Beckwith got knocked over/stumbled about 15 yards down field on a passing play. He met that big rb several times on inside runs and smoked him every time.

That other dude makes it sound like Beckwith was playing MLB on roller skates. Far from it.

That's why he was credited with 2 tackles, one of which was a stretch play?

He's obviously an incredible talent. But MLB takes on a lot of responsibilities which pass just instinctive and physical abilities. There's probably a reason why he didn't see the field at MLB until today while he's been in at DE since game one.

And like I said, he can be something we haven't really seen before in the Mustang package. Hand in dirt/outside standing up/inside standing up/drop in coverage.

yeah we need Welter in there missing tackles and getting blocked 10 yards out of the way but knowing deep down inside what his responsibilities are

Obviously the staff sees him as a guy that can possibly impact the game from several positions...they'll keep evaluating and increase his snaps as he gets experience...if he could take over the MLB spot, that would be huge for the future....Go Tigers!

Good to see him playing so early. He's a great kid. I taught him when he was in high school - he was very mature compared to most other high school students.

I am thinking that the coaches wanted him at DE but saw we needed help at LB.

Although he was playing MLB in the second half, I don't think he was making the calls. You really need your Mike to be the quarterback of the defense. I don't think he's anywhere near ready for that.

That said, the guy is a beastly beast.

Sorry for dismissing your opinion but you keep saying if we see him in mustang.

Beckwith has been our pass rushing specialist ever since the first series of the tcu game. He has been coming in on obvious passing 3rd downs and getting great pressure. This is undeniable fact.

I am sure there is someone else who can call plays for the defense. Does it HAVE to be the MLB? Loston, barrow etc.

That might be the only thing that keeps him from being the starting mike linebacker. One thing about welter is he knows the play book and can get everyone properly aligned. Although we might have three people that can play that position better than him, he might keep his spot for that reason.

seems like hes not ready for the command and control aspect of the MLByet, so coaches are just trying to get him on the field and put him in position to utilize his raw talent where he doesnt have to think too much.

He'll be a star once it all comes together.

OK, he finally got some playing time. Watched the game live, no review. Anyone done any analysis of his play?

He moved to the ball decent but is a step slower than Welter which worries me a little about any coverage issues he may have.

Stuffed the middle up well. I believe if SEC teams gash us up the middle you will see him given a chance to stop that.

Strong young man. He neutralized that big back KS had (one that took Barrow out)

Overall, I was very encouraged for his future.

I also thought he lined up a DE once but he may just have been coming on a blitz. Anyone else see that?

Just callin em as I see em. I think KB52 has way more upside than DJW31. Playing time will increase for Beckwith IMHO.

250 lbs vs 220 lbs what would you expect for quickness
