The A$M guy, Dave South is his name I think, is literally the worst college pbp guy I have ever heard. I have said this since last year when they entered the league. He is GOD AWFUL.

No, he really doesn't. He may have gaffes every once in awhile, but he really is one of the best in the business.

Listened to the first half of our game with Hawthorn today. I disagree. He is beyond horrible. I think he sounds lost most of the time and is constantly correcting himself. Eventually I just focused on the crowd reactions and waited for Gordy to explain it.

A&M's PBP guy is horrible. Hawthorne is much better than him, but that's not a ringing endorsement of Hawthorne by any means.

I listened to most of the first half too. He followed up LSU's 1st drive of the game by saying "LSU 4 and out, Florida coming to bat...". LSU held the ball for 8 plays, IIRC. Turned it off and drove the final 10 minutes home in silence.

Agreed have heard pbp announcers all over the country. Hawthorne is easly in the bottom 5.
Example from last years Washington game third and 1 Washington at their own 29 and the rb carries to the thirty three and may have gotten the first down.
Later on LSU at Washington 45 and penalized for personal foul. Hawthorne "LSU penalized back to their own 40 yard line. Holy cow that is a 25 yard penalty LSU has just been penalized 25 yards for a personal foul"

Always loved Hawthorne, but that's only because I'm not an advanced broadcasting expert like every person on the internet who isn't me.
