Uh, yeah, band was there.
LSU's band is the best band in the southeast, possibly the nation.
UF's band IS getting much better b/c they hired a guy from Texas a few years ago. My problem is they don't PROJECT!!! They are 1 1/2 the size this year, so they're growing, plus then new unis look MUCH better and more professional and modern.
I'd like to hope we're striving to be more like LSU in that respect.

I'm really glad that at-least in the battle of the bands, USC's band was exposed as being completely over-rated and disgustingly terrible. How long til their football team drops another?

I think the reason UF's band is perceived as sucking so bad is that FBW and LRM were both at UF in the late 70s/early 80s (FBW as director/LRM as a band member) and once they arrived at LSU, they recruited HEAVILY from the Gainesville/Tampa/Orlando area. They got a lot of the best band geeks in Florida.
I remember that when I was a band geek at LSU, Florida was an 8 bus band, while LSU was barely a 7 bus band. UF had a big sound, but was basically a "park and play" band.

I've been relaying this to everybody I see. The LSU band was ROCKIN in the swamp and at many times during the game the UF fans were watching how much fun we were having, despite the game. I was surprised to see how little the UF student section did other than the chomp, coming from a LSU where we have tons of different cheers and dances to party all game long with.

yeah I was down there in A, RIGHT next to the band. They tried to take pictures of some people who were looking sad, I yelled at them, No Sad faces for them to put in the paper. But yeah we were not letting the score get us down and still had a decent time

Our band is trash. Y'all had your travel band and was 100X more impressive than ours. I really wish we would just rent out FAMU's band and just give up on the whole concept.

Maybe one day we will have enough money to take the whole band down to Florida. The sound would more then triple.
