You could argue make the postseason but be top 16 every single year is not reasonable.

Honestly, this is LSU we're talking about.
We should be a Top 8 seed every year.

Host a regional WHAT? Whatever they host, it won't be baseball.

We most certainly should be top 16 every season.

Gotta win some games for that to happen!

You won’t this year lower those expectations bud?

My point is do we not feel like lsu is a top 16 program in the country? In my opinion I feel with the fan support, history, coaching and recruiting lsu should be. Again if you have injuries to starters yes that will be a game changer.

This got downvoted
I gotta say, I'm a bit surprised by that.

To the persons doing that, I ask: how do you justify boasting that LSU is the premier program in ALL of college baseball, and then concede that we shouldn't be a national seed every season?

For LSU, a down year should be hosting a regional, but NOT being a national seed. We should NOT be a 2 or 3 in another regional, and the concept of not even making the postseason should be blasphemy.
I'm not saying to fire Johnson now, but he needs to understand the expectations. I mean, LSU has positioned BASEBALL, not men's basketball, as the #2 sport in the athletic department. We're almost certainly the only P5 school to do that, he should have resources undreamed of at other schools.
Omaha, the site of the CWS, considers us honorary citizens.

We SHOULDN'T go through rebuilding seasons here. Not if you want to say we're the best program going. It should be a reload every damn year.

If that sounds unreasonable, then maybe we need to be a little less smug and proud of ourselves.

Huge hill to climb if you lose this series. Baseball teams have to get hot at right time.

Vandy doesn’t consider basketball #2 (probably considers baseball #1).
Miss St. doesn’t consider basketball #2.
Florida likely doesn’t consider basketball #2.
Ole Miss doesn’t consider basketball #2.

That’s a dumb statement. Baseball is the #2 sport at a ton of P5’s, especially in the SEC.

Top 16 program doesn’t equal “bare minimum of being top 16 every year”

Their fan support is weird as hell but they have 2 basketball titles to their 1 in baseball so I feel like they probably consider it #2

Best facilities
Best sponsorship (Marucci)
Best NIL
Best coaches
Best AD support
Best fan support
Best legacy
Best talent
Best media coverage
Relevant pros

These are all constants. What's missing?

You're nuts.

Of the schools you listed, only Vandy may consider baseball #2, because they don't do ANYTHING in football.

Florida has 2 NCAA basketball titles.

Baseball is a nice pastime at other schools, to get you through the summers. It is NOT on the pedestal LSU has put it on here. LSU dumped a ton of resources into the program, which enabled it to surpass every program you listed, and win 7 titles. If you go all-in, you don't backpedal and say "nah, it's no biggie" when things go wrong. Bama people would lose their fricking minds if football went sideways like this year in baseball, and they wouldn't try to justify it as "well it's football", they'd demand fixes and a return to prominence. Ohio State's coach is on the damn hot seat in football because they are slipping into 2nd place in the Big 10.

We shouldn't concede a damn thing in baseball. A Top 8 (National Seed) should be the expectation here. We opened as #2, so clearly the polls agree with that sentiment. It took Johnson all of 2 seasons to win a CWS here, he should be in contention annually.
