Dak didn’t go to Miss State because lots of people saw his potential.

Recruiting wasn't that bad. A number of highly rated QB's came through the system. It was the way they were coached and developed that was a major cluster.

The problem wasn’t him looking for Cam Newton the problem was him taking someone like that and putting him under center in the I with Two TE’s!

I honestly think JJ could’ve been a Nick Marshall type player in Auburn’s offense

So just because Naecisse was a 4 star means Less was correct for recruiting him?! Lol

You said he was below serviceable which is incorrect. Winning 78% of your career starts, getting your team to a 9-0 start a #1 ranking and leading the SEC in passing efficiency Is a lot better than “below serviceable.”

And people wonder why we maybe questioned Steve going forward. He was a former qb involved in offensive coaching during a stretch where we really only had one good season from a qb

Lee did the best he could in the scheme we ran. Lee wasn’t the issue.

Les refused to recognize the way to beat a team with a good defensive line is to make the defense cover every eligible receiver and give the quarterback quick options when he is under pressure. He wanted to go max protect and have 2 receivers go downfield. Doesn’t work

You’re right and the new scheme drove that theory home last season. The sad part about Lee’s career is, even though his numbers improved, Miles ability to wear down a QB showed so obviously with him in particular. Look at the tape from his freshman year compared to his Sr. year, he went from a confident player in the pocket to seeing ghost and jumpy as hell. The combination of limited opportunity and unrealistic demand for mistake free play turned Miles QBs into nervous wrecks.

It was actually pretty good according to recruiting sites. I don’t think he had a qb start for him that wasn’t a 4 star with the exception of Andrew Hatch.

That was part of Les Miles problems w/ QB recruitment, inadequate assessment of QB talent; he wasn't able to evaluate a QB better than a recruiting site. In addition, he couldn't decide whether he wanted a dual threat QB or a pro QB. Case in point, in the same class he signed Lowel Narcisse, a 4* dual threat QB he also signed Myles Brennan, a 4* pro QB. Whoever expect Narcisse to be a good fit for a Les Miles offense? He had problems assessing a QB as to whether or not the QB had SEC caliber talent: 3* dual threat Justin McMillan, 3* dual threat Lindsay Scott. 4* Anthony Jennings and 3* pro QB Steven Rivers (who we took over Dak Prescott).

We wasted a lot of great years due to horrendous qb recruiting.

It was not just recruiting. There was bad luck, bad development, and impatience involved in the problem.
LSU signed many 4* guys. One guy, who looked real good, got a record deal from the Dodgers to pitch after working with the football team all summer.
Other guys were not developed, either due to their limitations or to bad coaching.

There would have been a lot more criticism if he didn’t recruit him. The fact they signed Brennan too indicates they knew Narcisse was far from a sure thing. If they didn’t take Narcisse, they would have taken Keayton Thompson and he was a bust too.

2015 and 2016 when they took lowly ranked Justin McMillan and Lindsey Scott were the real head scratchers. Even then a lot of people were white knighting for Scott.

The development was far worse than the recruiting.

Please say that again!!! Many choose to ignore that fact and dump on the QBs who chose to come to LSU. Some for nefarious reasons of being against dual threat QBs at LSU. For Less Miles, it was a combination of lack of QB development AND his QB unfriendly, risk adverse, antiquated, 19th century offense.

Joe Burrow, in the still Miles’ influenced QB unfriendly 2018 offense was a 50+% passer projected to be drafted in the later rounds of the NFL draft. His redshirt junior year as a starter was not much better, numbers wise, than Brandon Harris’ true sophomore year as a starter. Then under a new aggressive, QB friendly, 21st century offense, he has arguably the greatest year ever as a college QB, wins the Heisman and goes 1st in the NFL draft.

QBs under Mike Leach are prolific because of his QB friendly offensive system and QB development. Not because he is such a great evaluator and recruiter of QBs. His QBs were no higher rated than those recruited by Miles. He developed them and had an offense they could thrive in. Two thing Miles didn’t. Name one Leach QB that has gone on to have similar success in the NFL. There aren’t any. Minshew might.

The QBs recruited by Les Miles weren’t the problem. It was lack of development AND a QB unfriendly offensive system. Two runs into a stacked box, a Hail Mary to the sidelines, punt. Rinse and repeat.

Well to be fair Leslie was far from the only HC that told DP he wasn’t a QB or at least wouldn’t be if he signed with them!

We all know this. We are now at least three years past this... if Brennan turns out like we hope. And clearly the going forward QB classes look very good.

Narcisse might have been an upgrade to Harris and Jenkins. In a running only offense.. that is not how the game is played. And he had two ACLs.

Whatever, Drive on

Miles qb recruiting was fine to really good. Development and offensive scheming was the issue. Every qb we signed was recruited by other top programs.
