Anthony Jennings was the 5th best sophomore QB or younger in the P5 last year among QBs who took the majority of snaps for their team.

where you pulling this number from?

he was 83rd in pass effeciency. 25th among sophmore or younger and 12 of them came from P5. And of those 24 people ahead of him in pass efficiency, he had the least amount of total passing yards.

Only 1 QB in the country last year had fewer passing yards than Jennings did with as many attempts, Purdue's Austin Appleby.

It's really not difficult to make an argument that he was the worst college qb last year, that threw as much as he did. Just a handful of guys you could argue were worse.

It boggles the mind that we could be this "unlucky" year in and year out. With Mett's one good year being the outlier, we've basically sucked at the position for a while.

This is on CLM. He could have taken his lumps with Harris last year. Yes, LSU would have lost more games but would likely be better this year at the QB position because of it.

Now LSU will likely pick up right where it left off in terms of pathetic production fron the QB position. YET AGAIN.

We have had several OC's and yet the offense looks the same. Its on CLM.

Side note: I like Miles. Think that he is a great person and representative of LSU but i am tired of his coaching style which does not include grooming QB's

Yes, and many big name programs deal with the problem more efficiently and effectively than LSU. That's what we're discussing.

But you can't run that offense, then say you're preparing your players for the pros, because you aren't.

We aren't exactly developing our QBs for the pros.

Dak Prescott is the only QB out of all of those schools that LSU fans would be happy with. Any of those other guys and you guys would be ripping them apart too.

didn't say each of these guys were great, only that each of those schools had decent QB play (and certainly far better than us). I was refuting the idiotic prior poster who said it was so difficult to recruit a good QB to play in our conference.

They make up stats to defend certain coaches.

Man you are pretty dumb and it's obv you never played ball.

While I agree AJ has regressed both players are young and to insinuate one has reached his ceiling is fricking retarded.

As someone else mentioned Harris's fame you speak of came against scrubs in a game that was all but over.
When he did get his chance he looked worse than AJ ever has.

IMO neither players are above avg and the one that can give us a c effort for the year should start.

Jennings fumbled a shotgun snap and the lineman picked it up and ran it back for a TD

Easiest way to combat that is simplifying the offense. That's what the spread is, simplified offense.

And we have tried to implement this, but that requires timing and we don't have a qb that can throw timing routes. If you go to a practice watch 10 or 6 try to throw a slant, its comical.

Nah, not really. It's not just LSU fans who notice, it's pretty well considered fact across the nation.

That's frustrating because that's nothing but repetition to get that stuff down.

But the fall is a long ways away. I hope one of these two will separate himself. Don't care who it is.

Which is exactly why it's ridiculous to write Tony off after one season. He "gets" it, and it will be evident with his on-field performance.

That doesn't have crap to do with the style of QB. Those harping on the style of QB seem to think "dual threat" QBs lack intelligence. And Pocket Passers are inherently more intelligent. That, despite the overwhelming success of dual threat QBs in college football. And they have been successful for decades. But the thought that "dual threats" lack intelligence has existed much longer and is ingrained in the psyche of some.

So b/c he sat behind a guy that won 2 national championships, a 109 yard FG kick return from his 3rd in a row, runner-up Heisman, and Alabama's career and season passing leader, you assume Sims did not know how to run the offense effectively

Well they did have a transfer QB come in that was thought to be the frontrunner until game1.

This is a pretty worthless analysis. You are essentially saying that only one person that threw more had less yards. That has zero meaning. That's like saying out of all the people at your office, only one person that took as many trips to the bathroom, actually pissed less than you in gallons. All that really does is confirm that more trips = more piss.

Ah ok, makes sense now.
