Has anyone notice how effective this unit has been in keeping their opponents out of the end zone.

Look at the number of field goal attempts they forced against Clemson and TAMU.

Special teams and Kicking game will be huge this weekend. Having so much fall on Bradley Dale Peveto's shoulders could make this one a little scary.

Neither of those teams have 7, a mobile QB, JD Moore AND tall receivers. We will expose that shut this weekend.

Texas A&M has been one of the worst red zone offenses over the past 3 seasons

Just looked and outside a blown coverage vs JSU, the longest TD LSU has allowed was a 7 yard run

auburn is coached by kevin steele. their defensive success won't last. etling will shred them with ease.

Yeah. A&M only had one TD in the red zone. The other one was an 89 yard run.

You really better hope this isn't true.

Power running games are very helpful in "cramped situations" like the red zone.
Clemson and A&M aren't particularly good at that aspect.
With a healthy passing attack we should be relatively effective in the red zone, or just bypass it altogether.
Not discrediting them at all. Their defense played very well against those two teams (I think A&M is the better of the two), and they'll definitely be our biggest test to date. Maybe the second best defense we'll face all year.

We have LF7, Guice and the little Etling that could. that's the difference.

All I know is that there were many times last year, especially in the Arkansas game, where it felt like we had 9 guys trying to stop their 11. That's how all-or-nothing Steele's defense was at times. And Arkansas's QB had an easy time finding the matchups and exploiting them. I'm hopeful that our newest QB can do some of the same.

The matchup is Auburn DL against LSU OL which in my opinion heavily favors Auburn.

Etling needs to be able to have routes he can connect on within 3-5 step drops rather than long drawn out progressions.

Yes, Auburn's DL is the best we've faced so far. But, I stand by what I said last week:

quote:

[Etling] will show us that a capable QB can help both the OL and the running game. (with proper protection adjustments, quick reads, and an ability to complete a forward pass) Our OL will look considerably less sucky against MSU, I predict, and this with the knowledge that the MSU DL is much better than our first two opponents.
