I've never viewed Auburn as a true rival. Admittedly it's generally an important game every year but not a rivalry game for me.

I agree with "frick these schools", which is why I literally don't give a single shite about the SEC Network. The SEC is little more than a shill for the Alabama schools, and has never done a damn thing for us, so frick them.

depends on how you define "rivalry." To me, it means more than just two good teams that play a lot of good, close games. It's the visceral, emotional game that we circle on the calendar every year. It helps if both teams are in the same state, or border states, so they personally know a lot of players on the other team and the fans live next door to rival fans. And a true "rivalry" takes decades to develop.

Auburn isn't a rival. Actually, LSU lacks a true bitter rival.

In the 50s and 60s, it was Tulane and Ole Miss. Alabama comes close.

But we lack the true, hated rival. Part of that is because there's no other good D-I team in Louisiana that we play every year.

I do miss that.

The last time LSU came to Auburn, auburn fielded it's worst team in a long time and LSU was highly ranked then and escaped with a 12-10 victory.

Well the worst team of the Miles era was able to escape with a win there in 08 so I'm not overly worried.

Nothing wrong with thinking that, LSU always has trouble there. But the "LSU lost too many players on defense" doesn't really work for this year because our defense brings back a lot more than at this point a year ago, and they were still too fast for the Auburns/A&M's of college football. If LSU loses, it won't be because of the defense, it will be QB as you said.

One of the most pleasurable victories of the season is when we beat Auburn... It's just a great feeling.

The game against MSU will tell us a lot about LSU. I really think MSU may come to tiger stadium and walk out with the win

We've been hearing this for the past 14 years (every other year, of course).

The Tigers lost to LSU last year but were able to run the regular-season table from there for several reasons. They had a week off after that game to recharge and refocus, their rotating Eastern Division opponent was Tennessee and they got a decimated Georgia that was a shell of the team that started the year (and took a Hail Mary to beat them, at that) and Alabama in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

I swear, just because your favorite team can't beat Mississippi State consistently, doesn't mean everyone else has trouble with them.
