Very good, especially since we seem to always play Kentucky on a school night

Should be a sell out easy... Now IDK if they will technically get a record. Depends on how many students they let in. Last year vs Kentucky they let students stand in between the lower bowl and upper bowl so they could fit another couple hundred in... If they do that, then I guess we could break records.

The PMAC attendance record will most likely never be broken.

When Shaq was here, they actually had a game where they exceeded capacity and sold standing tickets. If I remember correctly, the record is like 15,000+. Our current capacity is a shade over 13,000.

It'll never be broken, because the Fire Marshall basically said if it happened again, they'd shut it down, or pay a big fine or something. I'm sure somebody else knows the details better than me.

Under the current configuration the highest attendance is 13,839 against Xavier in 2009.

Under the old configuration the highest attendance is 15,694 against Ole Miss in 1981.

I fixed the sentence. Because...

The all time record is 15,900+ when LSU played Ole Miss in Shaq's final season. The game wasn't on TV which may have been a prime reason why the attendance was so high. Official capacity of the PMAC was like 14,235.

I know you meant PMAC attendance, but my favorite LSU basketball game from back in the day was in the Superdome and set an attendance record:

LSU Georgetown 1989 - There were 64,144 tickets distributed and the actual attendance of 54,321

quote:

LSU wanted to keep the ball in hands of Jackson who had 26 points in the game. Smothered by three Hoyas, Jackson passed off to a wide-open Russell Grant.

Grant got off a set shot that was heading in the right direction before Mourning soared in the air and deflected it. The ball floated short of the basket, but LSU forward Wayne Sims tipped it toward Blanton, who grabbed the loose ball, shot in a hurry and watched as the ball went in as the buzzer sounded.

The second-chance basket sent the record crowd into delirium as LSU won, 82-80.

I got free tickets somehow (Shoe-Town maybe?). It was a nice OOC victory, and I hope we get one Saturday too.

I wish all of you younger folks could have been in the PMAC back in the period 1978-1988. Huge crowds...students sitting in the aisles. Raucous crowds, old and young. It was the golden age of LSU Basketball. I would love to see that spirit return, but today's crew only want to see a top team play in the PMAC, a big game only mentality. But, lots of us will be there tomorrow night versus UGA and we need to stand up and yell and make the PMAC have a home court advantage.

I'd imagine they will. They better if they want to get in the PMAC.

The attendance record will never be broken because they took out about 1,300 seats in 2006 and the record was already 1,000 over capacity at the time. It might top Xavier 09. The game is at the perfect time on a Saturday. And it shouldn't be raining.

Either way it's going be an embarrassment, only way LSU wins is defense will have to be lights out and firing on all cylinders offensively.
