No, Herman wanted another job more, and Alleva didn't even try after Herman flirted with Texas. Alleva acted like a child and said "frick off" after Herman wanted to meet with Texas, and his very next call was to Orgeron.

Joe Alleva was our AD. I’m pretty sure that’s why.

Not at all true. The absolute incompetent leadership at the time narrowed it down to Herman and Orgeron as backup. A ton of people would've been interested in the job, but as many people here said at the time and why we were upset by the hire, it was an unbelievably lazy hire to just settle for Orgeron.
They fricking gave up after Herman said no.

They interviewed like 2 people didn't get them then settled on O. We have a pretty damn good talent pool, some young talent on the roster and will burn money on a contract with a ridiculous buyout. Someone would take the job.

The last three head coaches for LSU won a national championship, and two of them were clowns. Someone will want the job.

Even the basketball coach at Ole Miss turned us down so we turned to John Brady. Brady rebuilt the program, went to the final four, then the rabid dogs ran him off.
Some have been trying to run Wade out of town.

Alleva bungled the job for two/three seasons.
He played hard ball with Chavis to push him away thinking it would kill miles. He then hamstrings that dc search in order to screw up the hire but then loses his ballsack after the tamu game and keeps Les only to fire him 3 games into the next year turning the situation very toxic.
He then compounds all this by behaving like a child when Tom Herman uses us as leverage. Which happens in this game
