quote:

"Asked if Lee refused to go in the game after the Richardson touchdown, Miles said no."

I'm wondering why such a question was even asked, unless there was some possibility that Lee did refuse. If he did refuse, this would have been enough to rock the whole team and coaches, and explain their malaise and why Miles seemed to be unable/unwilling to take JJ out. But if Lee did refuse to go in and made that refusal known, we'll probably never really know until he writes his memoirs. If ever. And by then a lot of us will already be dead.

CLM also said in that same interview...
quote:

"...frankly it wasn’t our night."
That implies to some degree a belief that one cannot seize the moment and make it your night, no matter what. Alabama/Saban proved this to be a wrong and self-serving assumption by seizing the night and whipping the one team who had already beaten them once in regular season at home.

Our #3 QB would have been more effective than our #2 anyway.

Yeah, so I wonder if Mett said no, too. Because JJ played worse than I've seen a QB play outside of high school.

I would have loved to see what he might have been able to do. This would have been the one move LSU/Miles could have pulled that would have been straight out of Saban's worst, button-down process nightmares. Bama would have been unprepared for whatever Mett might have had to offer. But the Gambler chose to stay pat and then fold, and we will never know what might have been.

I still don't understand why Mett didn't see the field more than two games.

I understand getting JJ reps to make up for missed games, but it seems like you would want to get next years QB more game time. dunno?

And this is where the anger from the fans comes from. Not the best of times to take that attitude. Not in the national championship game.

No proof yet, but there is a stong rumor that the camera guy caught Les Miles telling Lee to warm up around the 4 minute mark and Lee to him to get bent... But producers apparently didnt let it be aired.

Our #3 QB would have been more effective than our #2 QB or the guy playing QB on the field.

Bs Bc Lee was warming up / stretching and I thought he was going inz

There were also shots of him standing as close to the field as you can be Looking like he was chomping at the bit to go in

I suppose it's possible JL is really cunning and devious, but from his (and others) post-game comments, I find it hard to believe that he would refuse to go in. And certainly, I don't know him personally, but from the character he has exhibited during his time with this team, I can't imagine he would balk at ANY chance, no matter how remote, to help his team.

I agree, the Lee we all grew to "know" over the years seems to have great character, for somebody having mud kicked in has face game after game since the first Bama victory this year (and whole seasons before). But everybody has their breaking point, and it would be almost understandable if he did "break" in this case. But I guess we'll really never know.

I dont kow if this happened but if it did, good for Lee. If he sat me all night and it was my last game and he wanted to bring me in down 21 points with 4 minutes to go I would probably refuse to go in myself.

Mett should have been playing the entire second half in some of our games.
