First off, you're annoying as f*ck.

Secondly, you're bitching at people for doing EXACTLY what you're doing...

quote:

Lester Earl: He and Shand both saw snaps to DT last year
quote:

You: Every play I saw Jones on the field, he was not playing DT. Not saying it didn't happen but to act like Jones was playing inside a lot is simply not factual.

When did Lester say they played inside A LOT???? He said they saw snaps at DT.

quote:

Lester Earl: PFF charted both jones & Shand with snaps at DT in 2023. But hey you didn’t see it so it didn’t happen
quote:

You: Didn't say it didn't happen. Hey guy, I know you like to argue with everyone but at least try to accurately quote people. Geez man, you really need to get over arguing with everyone and misquoting people. Over and out with you! Post another 277K posts the vast majority I would bet just arguing over nothing and misquoting people.

Nobody cares as much as you do that you made a stab at guessing Jones and Shand might move inside. WHO SAW THAT COMING??????

Gee...we're thin at DT and you made the ABSOLUTE CRAZY assumption that guys already on the DLine could potentially move to DT?? You're like some sort of seer shaman!

Lester may be an a-hole and he may be wrong a lot, but he’s not wrong here.

They are also moving to a 4 man front.

Guys are going to be moved around and tried in different spots this yr until Baker gets his prototypes in there

Jones

72% edge
23% 4tech
4% DT

Shand

77% edge
14% 4tech
8% DT

Pff defines edge as lining up outside the OT

That is inaccurate. There were more saying that would not happen than said it would. Weight was mentioned as one factor as if 280+ wasn't big enough.

That’s because 280 isn’t big enough to play a true DT position. They need to add another 15-20 pounds to even have a chance at being successful there.

Again most people weren’t saying that it wouldn’t happen. We were saying that it’s not a good thing to have to do that.

Right so him and shand played a bunch of true edge last yr. Jones didn't really hold up against tackles.

So I can't see him moving inside and holding up against double teams. I'm sure Baker would play him more like a 3 tech.

I wish they would slim him down some and see if he gets some explosiveness back. He is probably 15 or 20 pounds to heavy.

We need big time DT transfers for this year. That’s all that needs to be said

This needs to be the last year we rely on the transfer portal for help on DL.LSU needs to start building thru high school getting big time DL players like the OL line has been doing lately. Nothing wrong with getting a Guy to help depth but LSU seems to still relying on portal to much for DL help. Hoping B Davis can get us on UGA/bama level with getting top high school talent.

It is either gain 20 and move inside or lose 30 and move back outside. Waaaaaayyyyyyy too slow to be playing on the edge!

Apparently, you care because you posted a novel as a response

I gave my opinion which seems to be coming to be. Never claimed to be a seer...just a logical person who has some common sense.

Thanks for your opinion. Oh, and great that you this topic which had good discussion on the topic in order to simply make personal attacks! And you accused me of being a troll.

The same people complaining about 280 lb DTs want a 220 blitzing off the end every play. Kind of funny.

280 is not too light to be a DT...but it depends on your athletic ability, strength, and whether you are in shape. There was a guy nicknamed Mount Cody or something at Alabama who was obese to be kind, and he played NG at Alabama. Was he too heavy? Played the position pretty darn good. These sweeping stereotypes DT weights are useless. If Jones or Shand weighed 240, that is one thing.

I absolutely think this.

We are incredibly weak and thin at that position.

That is inaccurate. There were more saying that would not happen than said it would.

“Knowing” and “saying” are two different things. A very high percentage of the people who post in those kinds of threads are sky-is-falling types, including you notastargazer. I didn’t post an opinion, because I figure the coaches know what they’re doing. But I figured Shand and Jones would get a lot of snaps inside, particularly on passing downs. I’m sure there were a lot of posters like me who you never heard from on that.

You arent comprehending what Kelly said. The scheme translates to their position being more inside. Essentially we will have a SDE and 2 DTs down with an edge being hand down or standing. The DL is for eating space and blockers allowing the athletes to make plays.
