I'd bet they have had him on a diet and work out plan since he signed.

LSUs website roster lists Hodson as 6'3" 181 lbs. as a freshman. He was listed as 195 lbs. as a sophomore.

And I was listed at 5'9 170 on my high school roster. Actually size, 5'7 155. I think they measured me with my cleats and full gear

Weight gain needs to be progressional...too much too fast will lead to injuries down the road.

190 this year, redshirt and put on 5-10 lbs of good weight and as a rs freshman in the 195-200 range and finish off his career at 210-215.

2 PBJ's on white bread and an Ensure Plus every night before bed and continue his normal workout routine and this kid will be 200 before you know it

shite worked for me when I was skin and bones.

He can easily be 200 by the time the season starts, maybe even 210.

Pretty sure Moffit can put more than 2 pounds on an incoming freshman and he'll be fine. I get what your saying and I agree with your logic but this kid has never been in a college training program. Is it that crazy to think he could healthily gain 12 pounds his freshman year?

I think I'd rather see him come in and not use up a year of eligibility. Then you have 3-4 years where hopefully he can take the bull by the horns and you don't have to worry about your QB. When was the last time we've done that at LSU

This way of thinking has been our biggest issue over the years. The best players should play regardless of classification. Great players will never stay the full term anyway.

If Brennan is the better option he should play and start. At least this will show future recruits they have a shot at starting day 1. Why do you think Bama keeps getting the top Qbs? Because they know the best player will start

I would say that being in the play offs literally every single season doesn't hurt when recruiting QBs either.

12 lbs to 200 lbs with an 18 boy is not that much. He could make 195 by spring. He'd probably be best at like 210

Such a misnomer, the only decent QB we have had is Mett and he is the only one that didnt get thrown into it.

LSU has played younger better players constantly. shite, look at our draft picks, Fournette, White, Adams have all been playing since freshman year. Pocic had multiple years starting.

There has been no playing older players. Maybe we should, our record has kinda been pretty bad.

Hodson redshirted. If I remember right, he hurt his arm lifting weights, and was forced to redshirt.

I am more excited about this kid as a freshman QB than I have been in a long time, (probably since Russell Shepard and we all know how that turned out). Getting a kid that is a work horse, film junkie, and as fundamentally advanced as he appears to be in his tape is a rare combination. He shows excellent drop back and footwork, can scan the field, make a decision, and get the ball out quick, normally to spot where his receiver can make a play. He might be too green and too light to play this year. But, it won't surprise me if he can't come in and make a serious push at the starting spot at some point this season. This kid is die hard purple and gold and has all the measurables to be the kind of QB that LSU has been in dire need of. I could care less about a red shirt. I see him with more potential than having to consider being a 5th year senior

Players are bigger, stronger, and faster. The caliber of athlete on the field is night and day difference compared to 30 years ago.
