Are you confident with Nuss as the starter going into 24?

Its not his fault he's been thrust into big games, but he did leave a bit to be desired.

Next year will be his 3rd in the system. Are you confident he's the guy and do you think Kelly will put all resources into him or look at bringing in a transfer?

What if a big name transfer calls? Do you bring him in and risk losing Nuss?

He will be fine

There is a big difference between the guy taking all the #1 reps and the backup thrust into a game

It will take him a little to get the touch he needs

I mean, he went into bama game thinking he most likely wouldn’t sniff the field.

It’s understandable that when JD5 went down he was flustered getting sent into a game that fell completely on his shoulders.

He is still a great QB and when he has the confidence knowing he is the starter, he will show up big for us.

Down two scores on the road in in Tuscaloosa is probably not the best sample to evaluate. He looked good in the SECCG. He needs a handful of games to get his feet wet and get comfortable before we can make a determination

Ironically, an opener against USC might just provide the perfect amount of pressure from a spotlight perspective while going against an opponent that won’t provide much resistance

He is NO JD, but then who is?

He got thrown into a tought spot Sat night and with it stared down Nabers on most pass plays.
He has talent and with 1-reps & his film study (up to him) he should be ready to play in 24. He'll have an abv avg OL with experience and some talented RBs to help take the pressure off the passing game.

Sure

I’d like to see him get some substantial PT rest of the season.

Yes, I'm confident that Nuss and be the guy. And yes, if a big name transfer calls, you take the call and bring him in. Just not sure if a big enough name will jump in. If it is similar players to last year (Hartman, Buckner, Devin Leary), than it probably won't happen. There weren't any can't miss QBs who entered last year. DJ Uiagalelei will probably end up being the best of the 2023 transfer class. He's completing about 58% of his passes with 18TDs.

Nuss has more than earned a chance. He looked good last year against UGA. This was different. Was at Alabama when he was cold and not really expecting to see the field. The real question is, will he put in that offseason work? That is where some real development happens.

He will have an offensive line of 3 year starters, a ton of talented receivers, and some good running backs.

Nuss will be fine. I expect he puts up big numbers

Not convinced at all. Limited action shows that he’s erratic and not ready for prime time. In time he could develop into a consistent qb but not as of now.

I think Nuss will be fine if we can get a defense to help him ou. If we have a repeat of this year’s defense, Nuss could be really good and we’d still lose 5 games.

Our O-line might even be better next year. That gives me confidence with Nuss having a clean pocket. I wish Denbrock would incorporate choice routes from the slot because I think Nuss is smart enough to hit those in an up tempo fashion. My biggest issue with Nuss in up tempo red zone is how he mostly defaults to the give instead of tucking it or hitting a hot route. He puts us in too many 2nd or 3rd and longs with that because he is not respected by the D to keep it.

All true and add that the offense is geared toward a slightly different type of QB. Small differences but differences none the less.

There is nothing to suggest the offense or Nuss isn't going to have success. I more concerned about the defense going forward.

Our OL will be great, RBs great. TEs will be better. WRs will take some time but in no way will our Offense be bad.

We will be a different offense for sure but we return on O

Absolutely.

Give him spring and fall ball with the 1s and watch.

Offense will be just as good next year.

Won’t matter if we don’t improve significantly on defense.

It’s practically malfeasance to not take a call from a big time transfer in 2024.

That being said, I’m okay with Nuss, but we should always be looking to upgrade.

You are not winning anything in this era of football with a pure drop back passer
