Here is the thing - at some point when you have NINETEEN ads on one space they have to lose their effectiveness. If it weren't for the OP pointing out the ridiculousness of it, would anyone remember what ads are displayed on that scoreboard?
So yes it is true that over saturation has to diminish effectiveness.

Someone gets it. From what I remember, last season was suppose to be the last of those ads. They just did it to fulfill the contract and they are suppose to be gone soon. Better be gone by first home game. That shite is atrocious.

How long before it's no longer "LSU" in the end zones, but "Capital One" or "Cox"? No longer "Tiger Stadium", but "Tony Chachere's Field" at "McDonald's Stadium"? Chants are no longer "Geaux Tigers" but "Geaux Verizon"?

For those that have went to games at those other locations, you will notice the play COMMERCIALS on the video boards with sound during TV timeouts. So don't complain too much.

I think you're on to something. Maybe if the administration can convince the students to chant "suck that Verizon dick, AT&T" the school could pocket a couple hundred thousand a season.

You can remove the Verizon logo...they're not a major sponsor for wireless this coming year.

Could it be that they had to put ads on the screen because those grey colorless border ads aren't done yet or not lit up?

They are not going to light up, and those are permanent. It's actually a "mesh" screen-like covering for the speaker system.
