That guy is a beast athlete. I can see why LSU kept their commitment to him even after his off the field issues. If he can stay out of trouble he's going to be special. He's fast and carries his weight very well.

This guy gets it. Not much different than the base 4-2-5 they've been running for years. Two interior lineman, two edge rushers, and two "true" linebackers. Beckwith will be one, and then you've got Riley, Alexander, divinity, voorhies, and Thompson battling to take over the Debo role this year.
This.
We keep talking about this Okie defense. In actuality we will be in an alignment like that very seldom. We will be in nickle the most, and dime and base much less.
I see up running a 3-3 often as our nickle (very similar to the 4-2 or 2-4 mentioned above) but with a big athletic down lineman as our wide 4i tech
Something similar to this:
4i: Neal (Washington, Logan)
1: LaCouture (Gilmore, Alexander) (1 tech shaded to the 4i side)
3: Godchaux (Lawrence, Herron)
6: Key (Bower, Teuhema, Anthony)
Beckwith and another LB (Riley, Alexander, Divinity, etc)
Call it a 3-3 or a 4-2, its not terribly different than what we have seen in the past while in nickel with two true backers on the field, it just gives a little more versatility to the front and the edge rusher

Don't know why Lester is giving me shite? Most of the dudes on here probably saw white listed as a rb and didn't even watch film of him destroying people.
At the opening, he was picking off passes in the flat like it was his day job.

I think what many misinterpret about a 3/4 is its versatility... its why many NFL teams use it... the three lineman are generally huge like our DT's now... 6'3-6'4 300+ lbs.. then two pass rushing OLB/DE's 6'3-6'4 250+... thats 5 guys getting after the QB/stopping the run, generally plus your two inside guys for blitzing or run stopping. When you have that and bring in our Nickel/Dime packages with all our DB's its money. It puts four bigger bodies on the field to stop the run but you still can have 5 DB's to play man and two deep zone on the back end... Its an attacking style defense... I dont know about you, but im tired of seeing the defense on the field the whole damn game... if our offense goes three and out we might actually get to see them again in the same quarter at least

Don't be shocked to see a guy like Adams play lb if we switch to a 34. Arizona cardinals have been very successful on d using only 2 true lbs.

Sorry to bust most peoples bubbles here but we are going to have kick arse LB's this year and they will be the first or seconds strongest part of this defense.

What? We dont have the lbs to run what Aranda actually wants to run. The only real DE that has the athleticism to drop in coverage at OLB is Key. None of or other DEs can run with rbs. We just dont have the LBs to run a 3-4. We got some studs up front and its rare for a freshmam LB to mak an immediate impact while you see freshman dlineman make impacts every year.

No he isnt. Come on. He can be really good but he isnt close to being Ben Davis.

We don't have a talent deficiency at Linebacker, we just have a depth issue.
Outside of Beckwith we dont have a single lb that has proven sec talent. Who are all these talented lbs lsu has that you know can make an impact in 2016?

These guys are for all intents and purposes rush ends who occasionally stand up
Not in Saban's scheme. The Jack in Saban's scheme does everything and he isnt a glorified DE. If you have a jack Lb that blitzes 90% of the time then there is no use running a 3-4.

There is no way our lbs are gonna be better than our dline and secondary. Thats not a knock on the lbs. Our dline and secondary will be top 3 in conf. For our lbs to be top we wpuld need 2 freshman to step up and that just doesnt happen at lbs position very often in the sec.

Not signing elite LBs is getting old.
