Aranda's scheme will help us hide the LB deficiency.

Les said yesterday that players like Roddy and Anthony could certainly fill the need in the new scheme. That also means that Bower, Neal and Key could fit in even better. This defense is going to be nasty.

i'm not a football genius like many of you but having a bunch of DE's or RB's at the LB position just doesn't sound all that good. DE's and RB's don't drop back in pass coverage.

Neal is a DE. But I could definitely see Key, Bower and Teuhema. Actally saw teuhema a few times this year at LBer.

I wouldn't jump into this conclusion just yet until I see Aranda's production on the field. Plus, as the old saying, even the best chef cannot cook without proper ingredients, and I would have to say the lack of LB, especially MLB, in this class will hurt us big time in the long run.

So if their high school coach woulda put em at LB versus the DE position, we would be happy

We saw how good Beckwith could be with his hand on the ground and how good Key could be standing up

I like the versatility, especially in the age of HUNH

We have a stud MLB signed. We just need to convince him if he wants to play in the NFL he needs to move to LB which I'm guessing he will from day 1.

I don't like threads that discuss hiding deficiencies on defense

it's more complicated than that. LB's need more speed than DE's. and if a kid played LB in high school we'd have a knowledge of his skills there.

that doesn't mean they can't convert i'm just saying it makes me nervous.

We don't have a talent deficiency at Linebacker, we just have a depth issue.

Kendell and Duke will be fine with Donnie or Voorhies manning some spot duty at Sam. If we switch to the 3-4, we'll be in even better shape because we can run Key at OLB and Neal at Jack with Duke and Kendell in the middle.

We just need to get Divinity a protein shake and a playbook asap.

I'm not sure I see Neal standing up. I think Neal stays at DE and Teuhema is opposite Key at OLB

It's exciting to think about Aranda finding a way to get all of these guys on the field at the same time.

If he is a stud MLB, then he would have been rated as a stud MLB. But did he? You people just have to realize just because some guy got the body for MLB, doesn't make him all of sudden a better LB than a pure LB who played that position 4 years in high school. LB, especially the MLB, is a very difficult position to adjust to if you didn't have experience before.

It depends on how they do it. In Saban's scheme, the Jack is pretty big. See Devall and Ryan Anderson as examples. These guys are for all intents and purposes rush ends who occasionally stand up. Neal would be a nice fit in that front, but to be honest, I'm not sure what Aranda like to do.

From what Aranda did at Wisconsin, he didn't rely on the big bodies like Saban does. That's why I think Neal could get away with staying at the end spot.

We'll have to wait and see obviously, but it's exciting knowing how proficient Aranda is with the X's and O's

Then don't read them?

What do you expect? 5 star future 1st round draft pick at every position on the 2 deep defensive depth chart?

Isn't adams going to play pretty much a LB position in this scheme?

More like he will be all over the field depending on the offense's formation/personnel.

Think of how Pittsburgh used Polamalu.

Supposedly he'll move up a bunch.
