well just starting with the current roster, there's only a couple guys over 250 on the ends. And that's counting 251 and 253 from Clark and teuhema.
Lewis Neal breaks 260 as our heaviest DE. Washington is 240 and we have 4 DEs under 235. As light as 216.
258
240
252

^ those are some of alabama's linebackers. Our DE's would be fine off the line playing OLB. In aranda's schemes.
6'3" 255 is average sized for a d-1 college DE. We play well below that.
6'1 1/2" 230 is average sized for a d-1 college LB. our ends are closer to this size typically.

I hope it's that easy.

Well yeah I hear ya. it's more than just putting someone somewhere else and playing a new position but this is a good technical coach who can get it done with the best of them. (IMO).
Just saying he isn't at a disadvantage with personal going to his 3-4 like he would be at a normal school's 4-3.

Feist and Ducre almost HAVE to be moved to defense if we are to play a true 3-4

This isn't a new philosophy. It's been around a long time.

Feist yes. got a feeling Ducre will be needed at RB, and be somewhat of a RB/FB hybrid.

Let's see if he can coach up greats from nothing at linebacker in 9 months. That's what he's going to have to do because of Les' mismanagement of the roster.

After watching that clip I can't help but chuckle at the difference in personalities between him and coach O.
I was about to post the same thing. The guy has a degree in philosophy for Christ's sake. Lol. I bet the conversations between him and Coach O will be pure comedy gold.

Well I like the hire, but I would like to see some improvement before I get hyped up. Go check the stats from the bama/ badger game this year. Yes I get it, the talent here is better, scheme and player development is my desire.
Here's some stats for you killjoy:
Wisconsin has had 19 games in last 3 years holding opponents to 13 points or fewer.
5 of those were shutouts.
LSU has had 10 games in last 3 years holding opponents to 13 points or fewer. 2 of those were shutouts.
His defense held the 2014 Auburn team to 31 points with a bunch of flat footed dairy farmers. The same Auburn that scored 41 on LSU.

It's not a true 3-4. It's much more of a hybrid 3-4 that relies on speed, slants, stunts, and pressure up front. It's a 1 gap 3-4 instead of a 2 gap. Meaning instead of having the responsibility of the gaps to your left and right, you only have 1 gap responsibility. 2 gap takes a lot of reading, reacting, and fighting across blocks. You can really pin your ears back and attack in 1 gap.
And he uses anyone of the 4 LBers as the 4th pass rusher. Sometimes it's the OLB, sometimes it's the ILB. Sometimes it's the wide side LBer, sometimes it's the short side. Very difficult for the OL to pick up on the 4th pass rusher because they don't know where it's coming from. It creates a lot of confusion and mismatches, which he exploits. Gonna be nasty.
He's an extremely smart coach and knows how to prepare for an opponent and call a game. Hes also very good at connecting with his players and explaining things to them so that they will understand what he wants. And he knows how to tweak his scheme and adapt to his players.
Home run hire. It's pretty much the same D that Wade Phillips has run in Denver the last few years.

Surprised no one bitched about the Ohio state game last year when they put up over 50 on him.
By the way I love the hire

OLB won't be the issue. It's ILB. Even if Beckwith returns, he'll be hard pressed to fill a 2 deep at ILB in a 3-4.
He's a really good DC. If the personnel isn't there, he'll adjust his scheme to make sure the right guys are where they need to be to make plays.

His front seven scheme might be perfect for DBU. Lots of man to man with the best athletes on the team to give the front time to get pressure on the QB

I believe Feist was recruited to play LB if I'm not mistaken, but Ducre looked a little timid of contact at FB. ILB must invite it.

Scheme is different but Personnel stays relatively the same you just don't really need the space eating nose. Still need LBs

Devin Voorhies has a hell of a year at LB with Aranda as our DC.
Book it!
