Wade has this team rolling in year two after Jones damn near ran it into the ground. Imagine what Wade could do if he had Simmons. This is just another example of how critical coaching is.

He was in over his head, but he was a nice dude. It just didn’t work out.

as bad as johnny was, trent johnson was worse.

unbelievably bad recruiter and marketer of the program, and a below average coach on top of it.

Trent Johnson takes that honor IMO. At least JJ could half-arse recruit.

Why does he need defending? Who's attacking him.

I don’t see the need to trash a former tiger. I’m sure he did his best and actually put together a pretty damn good team. Just couldn’t hit the free throws vs NC state

No defense of Jones or T. Johnson..... but one of the biggest differences, which cost LSU many games during their time was the inability to shoot FREE Throws.

We're now probably 80% on average and those points down the stretch make a huge difference and WIN games when it's tight.

I like our team and coach Wade. I'm much more a football and baseball fan, than basketball... but these guys have my attention and I hope they really make a run, with a little luck here and there... you never know... they could win the SEC.

They are pretty even but Trent won a SEC Championship and Jones didn't.

There was one guy on here that constantly defended him, and I don't think it was a troll.

It was the dude on the OT that said he traveled as a hobo on trains for a year, or something like that. I think it was revealed he lied about it.

I don't even blame him at all. He had some OK seasons but never should have even come close to getting the job. I don't think anyone actually is defending him though

He was white knighting for JJ at the end of his last season when LSU was playing like shite. His JJ thread might have set a downvote record.

Sure and he made the Sweet 16 at Stanford... Both cases were with other coaches players (largely).

He could not recruit, could barely coach, and couldn't market.

He was worse than JJ, who at least landed some big name players in his time.
