Yeah I will take L. Fournette to have a better career than D. Williams all day. The shite people come up with. Meet me back here in 3.

Back in the 80's there was all the hype around Gary James, but Dalton Hilliard emerged as the real star.

Better? No. Good? Yes.

I wish he would play LB because he would be a stud.

This is false. Just look at camp pictures of him in hs to the fall lsu pics. Guy might not have gotten bigger but you can see the diff in muscle definition he is more cut up now.

People keep bringing up the 80s but recruiting and the college game are much different now. There are multiple camps, websites, and all star games that allow for much more comparison between players, Williams will be a fine back for LSU but LF is elite and every report out of camp confirms that.

Well, if you want to make this about yards and TDs, look no further than Williams senior year. He had more of all those things than Fournette.

Williams is going to be good (looks like Alfred Blue in high school to me) but come on.

Williams had 2501 yds, 35 tds in 13 games against teams that were a combined 52-92.

Fournette had 2547 yds, 24 tds in 11 games against teams that were a combined 91-53.

I'd love to hear a convincing argument for this. He did physically mature unusually early and that allowed him to put up very nice career numbers against other young teenagers, but what glaring physical advantages does he possess over starting SEC defensive players? While he looks great for an 18 year old, this isn't like Lebron James coming out of HS and still being dramatically bigger, stronger faster than all the other pro players.

I know you are related, or friends, or girlfriend of Williams, but please just stop. Fournette is bigger than Adrian Peterson while Peterson isn't that much faster than him coming out of high school. He's bigger and faster, and more shifty than Lattimore, Dyer, Gurley, Yeldon, and Collins, coming out of high school. You know, the last five 1000 yard SEC freshman rushers? They had no problem ripping up the SEC behind various levels of lines from day one. None of their lines come close to the run blockers we have at LSU. I mean in addition to the OL, we have a beast of a fullback, and a Titan of a TE (6'5 295).

There is not one dominant defensive line on our schedule. We have a few mediocre-decent, but none are just a lot better than others. All our RBs will feast.

That's not even adding what he did as a passer. Over 300 yards and 3 TDs.

LF also did his running on only 194 carries.

LF will be the better back only if he is used right. If they only bring him in say 1 series a quarter the defense will key on him. I think in order for him to be a all American type back you need to feed him the ball more then just a rotation back. His greatness is the ability to break long scoring runs. Just 10 touches a game want allow him enough chances to do that.
All great backs from Jim Brown to Barry Sanders were the feature backs. If they were in a rotation with just 10 carries a game they would of never became hall of famers. LF greatness is in breaking the one run a game that most backs never have but 1 a season or 1 in a career.

What in LSU's history under Les makes you think he'll be used like that? If Fournette is the back that everyone expects then he'll be featured and get the bulk of the carries just like Jeremy Hill, Steven Ridley, Charles Scott, Jacob Hester.

Look up the number of carries each back had in the last several years. These stats will surprise you. LF is the once in a generation back and needs to only come out of the game when he needs a breather. All great backs were used like this because they were capable of turning a short gain into a long touchdown. In recent history most coaches have gone to the running back by committee approach because most of the backs are close in ability and keeping them fresh. LF has the chance to be the JIIM BROWN of his generation.

What exactly do you think the stats show? To me it shows if your the best back your going to double the amount of carries as the next back. Your going to get 200 + carries a season, plus whatever you do in the passing game.

Also, many of those carries for the other backs are carries they accumulated during garbage time of blowouts.

What do you think would be "using Fournette right"? You want the kid to get 300 carries? Ingram won a Heisman and didn't even get that many carries.

Williams is the backup.

The backup is always the better guy that should be starting at LSU.

Flynn was better than Jamarcus

Jefferson was better than Lee
then Lee was better than Jefferson

if Harris starts, Jennings will be better. If Jennings starts, Harris will be better.

If Buga starts, Williams will be better, if Williams starts, Buga will be the better back.

so on and so forth at any position etc etc etc

Cam is second to Les, so Cam would be the better head coach.

And the idiot Detroit Lions STILL picked James in front of Hilliard. Predictably, Hilliard went on to have a much better pro career.
