No. His Ole Miss tenure was atrocious. Has overall losing record as HC. Even if we can't get Herman, would prefer Jimbo and several other candidates to O.
We have to resist falling in love with O simply because he is an enthusiastic native son. To win championshiops in modern day CFB, you need a recruiter who is also a superior tactician.

That's why you hire the best OC in the game. I hate referring to Saban all the time like most do but he's not an offensive mastermind but he hires the best to do so. LSU has enough money to do so and do it right this time.
I'm all for TH and Jimbo. But the views of most of the great offensive masterminds like Kiffin, and Briles aren't what most people in lsu want. So they better get this right as we only have one chance.

No major program in the country would seek out O as HC.
But I really like him here as an Asst coach and recruiting coordinator.
Those are his strengths and he is at the very best school in the nation to display his talents.
It's silly to press his talents beyond that realm.

What suddenly makes a man who won 3 games as HC at ole miss more qualified than a Jimbo, or Stoops, or Shaw, or even Herman, who has a smaller sample
I am rooting for LSU to win out, but you can mark this post as the first place you heard that the day the interim title is taken off is when this board implodes.

Here is what I would do. Identify your guys, so two maybe three, reach out to their agent to gauge their interest. If they are interested, then need to see how coach o does. Should know by mid November if coach o will be here to stay or not. Based on that then go after your top guy and get him.

Exactly !!! And to your very point....He got fired because "coaching" was not his best attribute.
