Anyone else rooting for Ed O to get the job if we don't land Herman?

I feel like not only would he be the best man for the job, but he would appreciate it the most and give us some wiggle room. Outside of Herman there's no real legit home run candidates. I wouldn't mind it at all if he brought in a high profile OC.

Again Herman is without a doubt the man imo. But if you asked me would I rather have Ed O, Fedora, Kiffin, Petrino (fuch that guy) or Willie Taggart I'm taking O 10 times out of 10, if he goes 6-2 or better.

Also I would rather Jimbo or Gary Patterson but don't think they're going to leave their current spot.

Him firing Cameron tells me that he realized more than Miles did.

I know I shouldn't but I do like the man. At the end of the day the coach needs to be more than liked, he needs to be able to coach up the team.

100% agree. If he takes down Bama and we don't land Herman, I'm all in for O though. I love his energy and idea of having former players walk down victory hill.

Also I think you make sure you can hold onto DA and bring in a top flight OC like Sark, Applewhite, Lincoln Riley, TCU's OC or someone else of that caliber.

I love O and I'm rooting for him, if we can't land TH.

He hasn't coached a game.
Being an interim is much different that being the permanent guy.
LSU is not a training ground.

Aim high.
Herman is not the only bright CFB mind out there.

He has a good part of the season ahead to prove himself...I don't think he would do a good job running the off-the-field aspects of the program, but it would be really cool to have him, if he could be successful.

OMG these threads are nauseating. How many different ways can this topic be covered? Idk why I even click. I must be a glutton for punishment.

Yes, but he would still have to bring in a top notch offensive coordinator.

No, I think you are wrong.

Coach O is good but we should definitely shoot for Herman. Now, if we cant get Herman, we should definitely consider Coach O.

If Ed O won every game, the fans would still not accept him as coach.

And if he was hired, the first time he lost a game the fans would turn on him "We should have hired Herman."

We're talking about coaches when the coaching board is open, but I don't really care about that.

What I do care about is everyone who thinks their opinion of Coach O deserves its own thread. The fact that it would be an underwhelming hire notwithstanding, can't you find any of the numerous other threads that have discussed it ad nauseam?

I don't think there's a big time program in the country that wants O as head coach.
Look at the record.
He's a very good man, a terrific recruiter and motivator.
Threads like this are the equivalent of those wanting to make Les AD.
Nice guys. Good coaches within certain areas.
Poor skills for the promotion.

Here is the deal. LSU has to hire a new coach in early December. That coach will either be Coach O or it will most likely be someone who is presently coaching (one exception is Briles).

So nothing will be made public before then (assuming our dumbass boosters learn their lesson from last November that loose lips sink ships).

In that time, lots of things can develop that could impact the outcome of the decision. Among them:

- LSU could run the table
- LSU could go 6-6
- LSU could go 8-4
- Texas could fire Strong
- USC could fire Helton
- Notre Dame could fired Kelly
- Sexton could use the LSU opening to get Jimbo $8 million from FSU.
- UofH could learn it is admitted to the Big XII
- UofH could pay Herman $8 million.

So it's a little silly to champion Potential Coach A or trash Potential Coach B.

LSU has fired its winningest (based on percentage) coach with the second number of career victories and most SEC wins. This administration owes the fanbase a coaching hire that is a consensus upgrade and that works. As many have advocated, we have decided to get rid of pretty damn good to make a run at being elite. Now the administration has to execute. High risk/high reward.

So on the coaching stuff, wake me up on it around Thanksgiving when some of the above factors (and ones no one is thinking about) are either no longer factors or are in play. Until then, I'm focused on team performance on Saturdays.

By the way, there is a Coaching Changes Board.

No.

You don't hire people at this level who have no PROVEN program running ability.

Not all great coordinators run great programs.

Not the same skill set

If he wins out, I'm all for it....

If he can bring in Kiffin as OC, and keeps Aranda as DC, then...
